Congratulations! You succeeded in turning a parts car into a legitimate rat rod with your expert body repair skills. I would be proud to drive that rig around - much better than the other '60 from a while back. The only real money I would spend on her is to slam in a three-speed Saginaw and properly install the rear glass. Take it to Puddin for a full-body pressure wash massage - GTG. Funky bar-hopper.

I installed commercial glass for couple years, that was pretty good install. one tip though, I'd probably pickup a three dollar tube of 100% silicone (because its cheap, sticks to everything and comes off easy) and run a bead on the inside of the window -- say if a gust of air comes in (while being trailered) say through a gaping hole on the floor, that tape might not hold up. *we could probably calculate the wind force on a certain square footage at 50-60mph but its Monday.
@davidanderson23932 жыл бұрын
Nice tech tip, or he just needs to double up on the old Gorilla tape for safety sake. Start with the tape going inside the rear doors and close the doors on it so she gets a good bite.

Love these old Chevy revivals... my first car was a '59 Bel Air with the 235 "Blue Flame" six and Powerglide, because nothing says performance like that particular combo in a four door sedan! As my Dad used to say, "it doesn't have enough power to pull a greasy string out of a cat's a$$"! It was blue with white side moldings ("spears"), and I didn't have to worry about losing them because Dad and I put them on with sheet metal screws. The first time I changed my own oil I slid under the car and took out the first drain plug I saw... yep, I drained all of the transmission fluid! Turns out that the Powerglide was one of the few automatic transmissions with a drain plug. Dad teased me about that for years. I didn't learn any lessons but the hard way... Dad said that it built character. I've got character to spare now... Love the channel, love the Duff dog... keep doing what you do best... I'll keep watching!

Hey Mortske: Good thing we've got your videos to keep us warm on a frigid morning such as this... The '60 Impala sedan flattop was a good choice to resurrect with the small block and decent transmission... Aside from the cooling system, ragged headliner, no working doors outside of the driver's door and the back window needing to be re-installed; its not that terrible of a car... Putting in that back glass took much courage so good job doing that...The Duffalupagus seemed to approve of the rig which is good for the girls that we go out with... From the home of PB Blaster Silicone spray.... Cleveland, Ohio.... Slingshot Engage!!!!!!!!!!!

In my childhood, my dad and uncle both had a 1960 Belaire. My uncle's car died on him and they put the 235 engine into one of our grain trucks, a 1948 Chevy 5500 if I remember correctly. His had a 3 on the tree. My dad's car we did drive a couple years longer, but the fiber timing gear went out, we never figured why when we pulled the engine apart, and it got parked too. When I was a freshman in high school, 1980-81, dad decided to pull that engine out and get it rebuilt then get the car going for me to drive for school. It had a 2 speed auto. But ultimately it didn't go as good as planned, and he ended up buying me a 62 Ford Fairlane to drive, also a 2 speed. It ran until my sister graduated in 85 then it got parked. I never really saw any of those cars around after that, being it was the only year of that specific body. 59 had the same body but a different grille. But they are kind of cool old cars. We also had a 60 Fairlane dad bought from a neighbor. He intended to pull the engine from that car and put it into our 63 F100...that didn't happen either and I had entertained the notion of getting it running again for a driver when I was working on the farm from 92-98....my uncle gave me an 86 Plymouth Fury to drive, so that didn't happen either. Yea, memories.

Boy did this bring back memories. My Aunt had a 2 Door Hardtop Impala 348 4 Barrel Candy Apple Red she called it. She'd take Mom and myself with 2 brothers to their brothers up thru the Mtns she was a fast driver I remember he stomping the gas on those 2 lane roads to pass farmers those dual pipes with glass packs would make some noise along with that 4 Barrell opened up. I was the oldest and that back seat seemed huge to us kids I was maybe 5 so around 1965 time frame. Mom use to get on her about driving that tank so fast,

good job on the body work. I got the feeling you were starting to enjoy seeing how much better you could make the hood and grill, even though this is destined to be a parts car. For some reason most people are scared of body work and I don't know why. I have yet to meet an autobody guy who impressed me with their intellect. In fact, most autobody guys I've known reek of of alcohol at 10am and look like they slept beside a dumpster in the back alley behind a dive bar because that is exactly what they did the night before. Yet for some reason the average car guy who rebuilts every part of his car including the brakes, wiring, engine and transmission is scared to take a hammer and dolly to pound out a simple dent. Think about it, a hammer is a body man's main tool, how fucking hard can it be???
