Like you said, the designers must have been touched. They surely were after they were done. These type of mechanisms totally amaze me. How the heck do you even begin to design something like this. There surely must have been tons of "oh crap " moments. Oh crap I forgot this, oh crap I forgot that. and so on. Just amazing. It makes the electronics seem like child's play. I'm sure the mechanical guys would think just the opposite. Keep pluggin' John.

John, the spring on the cancel switch goes up on the top hook of the wire, the switch will have to be adjusted again if you changed it. When it cancels at the end of the record the bracket pulls up on the wire where it sticks through the hole and works the switch. It is common for this wire to slip off the hook while working in this area of the mech, the record will not cancel with it this way.

It looks like the spring for the micro switch should be raised up the bracket to the next level where the bottom of the 90 has a place for it to rest. Awesome series! Thanks for sharing...

Reminds me of back in the 70's when I used to set up large electro-mechanical accounting machines and card punch machines. You'll get there John - in the home stretch now! Cheers, John

Hey John. I think you need a TV in the shop with an antenna on the roof. You can probably do what I do and get something like Antenna TV and MeTV. You can also get a converter box at Walmart that accepts a flash drive. They have timers that record those shows in digital quality. Haha.

John, The amazing thing to me is that this Rube Goldberg device would sit in a bar or eatery and play for weeks on end with nary a problem. Regards, Tom

Taking into account the litany of complications which have arisen during this project, I'd say that when you complete this restoration/project, you "damn well rootin' tootin' better have one hell of a party" to celebrate this project's completion". (and PLEASE) Be sure to live-stream the party, complete with a chat room. Are you sure that it says "Seeburg", and not "Iceburg"??? I second +Gordon Cole 's opinion, you do have the patience of Job. Electronics is one thing, but electro-mechanical troubleshooting exists in its own realm - and I'm beginning to believe that software engineering is a cake-walk, when compared to the degree of skill, luck, and determination involved in restoring this relic from a bygone era.

the problem is the clutch if it just sitting there with the motor and turntable turning while tripping the mech....my only suggestion is to start the adjustment procedure from scratch, the adjustment procedure MUST be done in the sequence of the manual as adjustments are inter-related....back out all the adjustment screws then start the adjustments 1 at a time and check for correct operation of that adjustment before moving to the next...if you do that, mechanically it will work piece of cake!
@rciancia

That is surely a complicated mechanical device. I would imagine all of the adjustments work together in tandem. It may be helpful to create a little swimlane diagram to show how the unit functions when you press play and document how step a affects step b and so on. You do have patience, we know that... and I also know you will get this dialed in. I also agree with zzzdogutube... that spring is not in the right place on the switch. It needs to be at the top of the hook like an IV bag in the hospital :) You got this.. piece of cake - Ron

Going by my manual the adjustments are meant to be done in a certain order. I doubt your service manual would be any different. Shame I am in Australia I would of loved to come and help you....

That is a very complicated project but it looks like you're doing very well with it. What kind of video camera do you use and what kind of files does it make? The project will take as many videos as it will take and it is enjoyable for us to watch the progress.

The last 20 seconds of the video where the mechanism wouldn't move: It was in the play mode (record arm up) waiting for the record to finish playing. In other words it was waiting for the needle to get to the end of the record where the micro switch would engage and set things in motion to then put the record back. She should move after it finishes that process.

It is all fixed, did you watch my videos on it I made a few days ago? We lost power at 4 PM today, just got it back on at 5 : 30 PM. The 3500 watt kept our heat going and all the lights but I don't run the computers because the UPS that are connected to each computer clicks, it the UPS's don't like the waveform from the generator.

I did watch. I was just teasing you. good thing you got it finished before the big mean storm! the last time I bought UPS's I got a great deal on the CyberPower ones with "Simulated sinewave." my computers are much less crashy when the power goes out

I know John...LOL Remember that little GENERAC is not the generator, heck it would not even run the fridge, we have a 3,500 watt Champion generator wich did a great job today.
