John, Always glad to see more process on the jukebox! I love the pinball machines and I look forward to seeing you work on them! I also have multiple projects always going on! I have been planning my raised garden beds, but I am not sure when I want to start planting yet. I saw this morning that we may get some very cold air within the next couple of weeks and we may get heavy rain this week! -Cody

John, Like you old bean, I too have never worked on a pinball machine. It will be an interesting experience for me watching you progress with both pinball restoration projects (assuming you'll be working on them at the same time). I’ve kind of got a good feeling about those two machines: I think you are going to enjoy working on them. It is also good to see the deck traversing, and selecting records. For me, making adjustments, resetting, and realigning jukeboxes has always been a tedious, and longwinded operation. I have to get myself into the right frame of mind before undertaking that type of work …this is the reason why I’m in no hurry at present to finish restoring my two jukeboxes. I’ve found, and you may find this too, after getting one part of a jukebox functioning correctly, getting other parts to function correctly usually becomes easier, and the rest of the restoration project gradually becomes less stressful. Regards, Phil.

Enjoy listening to your life philosophy as you struggle with your projects. When describing your upcoming plans you said, "It all depends." It's the favorite line that you hear in college. I remember a student once saying, "We keep learning in every class that it all depends. Why doesn't the university simply take our money, hand us a diploma and then whisper in our ear "It all depends."

A pinball machine...i had one as well, my dad brought one home when i was about 14 or alike...it wasn´t working...but also it was an old one full with relays and alike...and the best thing: it had a relay based memory and points adding unit, all done with these relays. I took me one year of cleaning all these stuff, as a teen you can really step very deep inside that rabbit hole, without loosing track, as your mind is not fed up with daystuff that much. And finally it worked....But the sad thing, my dad also installed a sauna chamber in that same room, and that killed the pinball machine, slowly. i hadn´t had the chance to get it off there, and some years later, my dad just sold it. It was a sheriff pinball made by gottlieb. But now, when i come across a similar one, i go buy it...i still have my selfmade drawings from mid 80th for it....may be....as in: you never know. :) Now let see what machine you got, here...restarting video ;)

You will find the pinball machine a joy to work on. There is a million contacts and small motors inside, the bumpers may need new rubber, but all and all a easy fix with a man of your skills.

Looking forwward to the pinball wizard in action. That Gunsmoke machine was a great pick too. I wish it would get closer to 50 degrees up here in Kenosha. I could get out in the garage and start some projects. I haven't even thought about tomato and pepper plants yet. I miss those Better Boys on a grilled burger in August.

Ok, John...i thought also this is going to be a long one, and it surely is...i also said to myself, i only go watch this series again, when i know it´s been finished and the juke is working. When i saw your face, i guesed you´re about telling your audience that something is gonna happen, next and you just said this... Hope we can participate on that the one way or the other. All the best for your idea, and let´s see what you come up with.

Wow this is unreal I have been following your videos because i have been working on an old seeburg jukebox . I like you have never worked on one before i am almost done with it i will know later this week when i take it back to the people and install it in the machine. When i get it done they want me to work on an old gottlieb pinball machine as well. To funny . Great videos by the way.

Seeburg Selectomatic mechanisms are notorious for being difficult to get working just right. Do not despair because it has been taking you so long to get it working. In knowing how difficult that mechanism is I avoided working on them in past years. I have a friend who has one and he has hinted that I work on it but I am avoiding that scenario. The easier machines to work on and restore are the earlier Wurlitzer and Rockola machines and also the early Seeburgs. I don't have a juke anymore. I have no room to display one properly. As it is I am out of room to properly display my vintage television sets. Pinball Machine?!? John OM you are jumping from the pan into the fire. In the late 1950s my dad worked at the Dandilion ride park in Muskego Wisonsin and they had a penny arcade. When I tagged along with my dad guess who was drafted to help work on getting the stepper relays and solenoids working right. I love how the inside of a pinball machine smells. LOL those were the days. How I miss them. Gary

hi john, think you are nearly there! your latest problem you will be glad to hear is NOT the clutch! its electrical as i can hear the trip solenoid firing. either the tonearm end of play switch or shorted reject switch/wiring. [most likely switch adjustment] the not picking the correct A side record is not likely to be the rack adjustment as its picking the correct B side..it will be the tormat adjustments or the contacts that ride on the tormat studs....easy fix after or you have been through....never worked on a pinball, so will be along for the ride to learn from you!

John - The pinball machine will be significantly easier to deal with than the jukebox. I see you got a "Gottlieb" machine. I had a "Williams" machine called "Doodle Bug". You'll have lots of fun!

Hey John. I found a GE model F 85 floor model radio for 10 bucks. I really want to make sure the power transformer is okay before preceding. I have 4 tubes missing plus some other strange issues like wires that won't reach. I can't plug in the speaker. It needs recapped and rewired. It has the early version of our modern style wire insulation. Nearly all crumbling. Even if I never restore it, it's getting some new grille cloth. That big hole looks like something Satan did LOL.

Good deal John! The pinballs are easier to work on than the jukebox. Not near as many moving parts. Under the playfield is usually a bunch of selenoids, those pesky blade switches, bulbs and a bunch of wiring. Behind the back glass, not sure, never dealt with a mechanical one before, just the digital ones. I can try and help out with what I know. Are you planning on going to the hamfest this year? Theres a 95% chance I`ll be going this year. Let me know if you are and maybe we can meet up somewhere.

John, looks like your problem is that the switch on the tone arm is not working right and it rejects as if the record is at the end of the song. everything looks good with the mech except that the tormat memory unit needs to be aligned a little better with the record slot after having the rack off again. The clutch looks fine. John, I work on pinballs too, and just repaired a Gottlieb Sweethearts for a guy. My advice is to clean it up first and don't get carried away doing a lot of things yet till you see if it works after you get the score reels working, then you can attack each problem one at a time if you have other issues!

Harry, Do you think these springs would work OK on my juke? www.ebay.com/itm/SEEBURG-STEREO-TONEARM-SPRINGS-220-222-Q-AY-DS-EXACTLY-LIKE-ORIGINAL-SPRINGS/311532475835?epid=1955207475&hash=item4888c855bb:g:5eEAAOSwqYBWopau Regards, John

John, they should because all the models use the same tone arm and pickup cartridge. The only difference that I have ever noticed is the color of the tone arm and cartridge in the 220 and 222 which are black.

Hi John I'am fine if it goes another 50 video with each problem we learn more, now could it be that the reject button is stuck on reject the one you tried before, just a thought sad that you are not going to be working on electronics any more or placing them on youtube but looking forward to your other projects, lots of luck phil

I don't think it's the clutch causing the record to reject when the needle sets onto the record. The instant the needle sets onto the record, I can hear the trip solenoid buzzing,so I don't think it's the clutch.

Wow John, pin ball machine, I worked on some back in the early 80's but not all that much, my boss was much better at fixing them and when he could not fix them he drove to Bally North East in Boston, that is where we bought our pin ball machines. I worked at an arcade, 35 machines, all kinds going all at once...LOL I like that Gunsmoke pin ball machine. So John, NO MORE electronic videos after all this in finished? I hope your new venture is not cooking videos...LOL
