You made it happy. Amazing how someone came up with all of this mechanical wizardry.

Hi John. Very interesting design to say the least. Reminds me of some of the machinery I worked on over the years. You will get it sorted buddy. All my best to you and yours. Bobby

Ok John: Now that you got her moving again let's talk about the carriage slide (needle carriage tone arm assembly) moving left or right. That thing will move from side to side when (and only when) it pulls a record out for play AND determining which side of the record is being played, will it slide to the one side or other. If you keep selecting an A side (A1,B1,C1...) per say, and the tone arm assembly is already on the side it needs to be on, it will stay there after the record is in position for play. Select the opposite side of the record for play, (A2,B2,C2...)the mech will scan, find the record, pull it up into the play position, the tone arm assembly will slide to the opposite side and the needle will be in place to play that side. DON'T go watching for it to slide left or right when the mechanism is moving left or right. Wait for a record to be placed into the play position then watch for it. That's the best I can describe it, hope it helps. Tony

Isn't it amazing how engineers design all this to work together? Each part designed to fit and work with each other to perform some sort of work. And this machine runs the gamut for sure John. You picked a good one buddy.

It runs so smooth now.. well done.. who knows. I do agree there is more to moving that tone arm platform... the player has to know that the B side was selected before it releases. I would imagine there had to also be a record in there and the spindle spinning backwards. You are so close my friend... you got it.

As the man said - it's always darkest just before it goes completely black - I mean just before dawn! Sounds much slicker now John so victory is around the corner!! Cheers, John

John, get a new spring! The one you have is worn and stretched to compensate for the wear. By the way, I love your posts they are very informative. Keep them coming and enjoy that beautiful "SPRING" weather. ( No pun intended)

When you hear it clicking can you see that clutch and verify if the pins and nubs fall into the notches completely while it is running. The clicking makes me think the pins and nubs go into the notches only partially and are popping out because they are not seating deep enough and that is what is making the clicking noise. Great vid on how that ties together. That really helped me understand how it works. I hope to see the same when you explore the carriage slider linkages too.

John , for now try it and see if it works ok. If in question you may need to get another spring for it. TJET 737 explains how it works like I did a few videos age on right and left side play. It depends on whether the mech is going from left to right or opposite when it trips to pick up a record. Odd B1, C1 left side or Even B2 C2 right side!!

It's still cold and icy up here in Wisconsin. The turntable has to change directions depending if side A or B is to be played.

I have found that spring tensions are very important so check all the springs for damage .

I just looked at my Seeburg R mech, apparently that arm momentarily pushes down on one of the clutch's levers & the spring is supposed to lift that arm off it.

John, Making progress in a forward direction is a good way to end a video. You'll probably sleep better at night as well. :-) Regards, Tom
