I love the color of yours I had a 1964 Notchback in the UK it had the twin solex carbs it was very fast the downside was it used 5 star leaded petrol which eventually stopped being produced so I had to have it detuned for 4 star but it still ran well not a lot of notchbacks came to the UK so when I went to VW Air Cooled Owners events it always drew a crowd of admirers I hope you can repair the bodywork on yours I had so much fun with mine happy days for sure good luck with yours best regards Andy Allen.

The type 3 was never intended as a replacement for the Beetle. It was a step up. Volkswagen wanted a larger, more substantial and more expensive car for Beetle owners to step Up to, and that is what the Type 3 was. It was never expected to sell in the numbers the Beetle did, but they still managed to sell 2.8 million of them.

Yes, ME again! (Antique Veedub fan, since I was 9 years old, in 1961) Regarding rust at the back and front of the wings, oŕ fenders, is common to cars of that time. They didn't yet have inner fenders like since then - so any mud and water got thrown up into places, that now would be avoided. Since owners of antique Veedubs go " international shopping" already, for parts - it would be worth getting touch with the English company called LOKARI. THEY specially make inner fenders for cars that need them, because they didn't have them in tose days. Because this model WAS sold in England, and classic Volkswagens have an enthusiastic following here, Lokari should be able to make ip a set of inner fenders for you. Lovely colour. I had the brochures for this car, and its karmann - ghia sister when they came out. Best wishes from london!

This car is one of the ORIGINAL ones! Historic! Not only Volkswagen, announced models at the end of a year - ready to scale up production to full volume, for the 2nd year!

The MOT, or whatever you call it in the US would never let this one go through in France. Cute car though.

This sedan version VOLKSWAGEN 1500, expected to eventually take over from the BUG or BEETLE never actually did? That's the same as the VOLKSWAGEN 1500 KARMANN GHIA I had! The sporty (Corvair - Style ) car was ALSO expected to take over from the original Karmann Ghia. Which ALSO didn't happen! AND also what was common to BOTH the sedan, and Karmann Ghia VOLKSWAGEN 1500'S, was that BOTH were only available in CANADA!
