Hey sometimes junk is all you have to work with. It's easy to forget that Chevrolet isn't making these cars anymore. Great job on the car! Keep up the great work!

Hello Mitch. After the completion of any steel parts or the structure, have the thing sprayed on with the rust-proofing liquid which uses ammonium (it smells) that is typical in alloy wheel brake dust cleaner spray. By doing that, the birdcage won't have rust occurring under the fiberglass. I used to do sheet metal work and so I know what those shrinkers, stretchers, and bead rollers do. Have a bead roller then you can do more. A tubing bender and then some will let you make a bar-built-in birdcage. There is an oval section tubing that Ferrari used to use for their space frames and underbody structure to reinforce spider (open-top body) rigidity. That type of tubing might be the best for a space frame with max rigidity. Ideal for the Mitch original super rigid birdcage. All you need is to weld flat sheet metal sections to hold fiberglass at its position. One day, I'd like to visit your shop. And I might place an order with a deposit for my own Split Window. And it could be Right Hand Drive by using Flaming River steering posts on the other side and have the glove box on the other side. Maybe the first Split Window EV! Let's do that Mitch! I know Jay (Leno) and let's pull him in! I sent you an email to your Gmail address. Check it out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIqkdIJ8irV2rNk

Love watching your C2 videos...you are a master!! I bought a basket case 64 conv in the spring that was hit on the rt door pillar. Your videos offer a great roadmap as well as the inspiration for my project. I need to tackle the birdcage then onto the crushed firewall. Please keep the videos coming. Thanks, Jonathan

Hey thanks Jonathan I appreciate that! I had fun building this cage but I will never build another one from "scratch". It was a ton of work and it drove me slightly crazy lol. I'll keep the videos coming! Let me know if you have any questions about the birdcage repair. I have a bunch of measurements that might be able to help you.

Really interesting, amazed that you can do that from scratch. I know you buy a lot of parts from stinger fiberglass have you seen their fiberglass coupe birdcage? It doesn't seem like it would be as good as a metal one, I'm looking around for one because I don't think I could do one like you did..
