My mom saw Johnny Winter play in Cleveland back in the 60s. He walked right by her, holding his Firebird...so iconic!

Really nice, by far one of the best condition '64s around. Great demo, thanks for sharing. Let's not forget the co-star, that Marshall is just as iconic.

Seymour Duncan Vintage Mini Humbucker. I use them and they are very good. Though your pick ups are very good from what I heard online.
@maxpeck41542 жыл бұрын
@@bob733333 Are you using Duncan mini humbuckers or Duncan Firebird pickups? Firebird pickups are indeed humbuckers that are the size of mini humbuckers but the similarities end there. They are unique and share almost nothing with a mini humbucker.
@bob7333332 жыл бұрын
@@maxpeck4154 Vintage minis I think they are called. There are 3 types of them one being vintage or 'classic' maybe. They are made just like a Firebird pick up. Just look on his website.
@maxpeck41542 жыл бұрын
@@bob733333 Right on. It's not like Gibson helped matters by using basically 3 versions of the Firebird pickup over the years. The originals were two bar/rail magnets, one inside each bobbin, I believe the bicentennial versions had a "sidewinder" coil oriented perpendicular to the upright coil, and then the later versions were ceramic magnets, thus very high output. I just know that regardless of version they share nothing with the miniaturized PAF style mini humbucker

@@maxpeck4154 Oh, I didn't even know that. thx. Seymour vintage are based on the original.

Being primarily a Fender guy, the Firebird is the only Gibson I'd love to have in my arsenal. This custom color one is awesome looking and sounding!

These are stunning guitars; and to find a color, well, just like opening a treasure box. I played a sunburst III back in the early '70s and will always regret selling it (was not by choice!).

Wow! That is one sweet guitar - SO clean! I’m not much of an amp guy, what’s the story with that Marshall? I’ve never seen one configured that way - it’s great sounding

It’s a reissue of the earliest JTM-45 offset design that predated the more well known Plexi fronts.

I had one in Black. Traded 3 guitars for it and was devastated when the owner of Ax-In-Hand in Dekalb, Ill took the pickguard off to show me it was refined, ARGHHH! Anyway it was cool but the bridge pickup would make a tele bridge look mild. Like a lazer unless you had it way gained up. Always loved that Cardinal Red, tho...
@thanos5152 жыл бұрын
There's something majestic and musical about firebirds. Aggressive but never offensive. Also feels like the firebird pickups transfer all the "right" frequencies. Maybe it's just the juicy looks that deceive me.
@bryonkidder61992 жыл бұрын
Now I've always heard that Firebird pickups are Firebird pickups and not mini-humbuckers? The magnets are positioned differently in Firebird pickups than they're positioned in mini-humbuckers and that makes a huge difference in the sound. Firebird pickups are more P-90 sounding and mini-humbuckers are more humbucker with a P-90 size...imolol
@darwinsaye2 жыл бұрын
Firebird humbuckers have the coils wired directly around bar magnets whereas mini hums have the magnet beneath the coils like a full size humbucker.
@MrDoobie122862 жыл бұрын
Firebird pickups don’t have individual pole pieces. Instead, the have two blade magnets.

There's just such a juicy, astringent, chewy sound to these things. Pulpy, peppy. The new ones don't quite do it, because of the high gain ceramic pickups
@johnault26492 жыл бұрын
Glorious guitar! I just wish the vibrola bars of the era worked better.
@BluegillGreg2 жыл бұрын
Those are not Mini-Humbuckers. Those look like Gibson Firebird Pickups, with a bar magnet for each coil, fully concealed by the cover. Mini Humbuckers are quite different, with a bottom magnet, a blade in one coil, and 6 pole pieces in the other, poking up through the cover. Mini-HBs are an Epiphone design Gibson used as a substitute for P-90s on some less expensive guitars. Nice Firebird.

Firebird pickups and mini humbuckers are totally different things. These aren't the same thing as what you find in a Les Paul Deluxe. Not trying to be a stickler but vintage guitar experts should probably be aware of that...unless these are replaced pickups.
