This was an auction in a small town for a 1965 Corvette convertible 327 4-speed. How much can a 1965 Vette in poor shape bring?

Funny how the car you want is always worth a fortune, but if you have one for sale, it ain't worth nuthin.

21 grand not bad. If auction house would have washed it and out a little love into it probably could have gotten over 25k
@DG-sf9ei15 күн бұрын
Lol, what were you thinking of 10 grand for this? Maybe back in 1995

A rare auction for sure.

That was a fair deal for that Vette. I own a 1979 light blue L-82 that I have had over 35 years. Stuff breaks on it faster than I can fix but I still love the car.

I"m still trying to put my 79 together. Everything was already broke when I got it!

I just subscribed I no longer have a vette I had two 1974 a coup and a convertible as I have been looking around for a C4 I will be watching

My dream car is a 74 Corvette Convertible with a 454 four speed. Probably never get it but I will probably get a 74 with a 350 at some point in the future. Most people don't like the C4's, I've had several. They are great as daily drivers. Good luck finding one, if you want speed you probably should go a later model of C4. Dramatic change in horsepower from 84 to 96.

It’s hard to believe how anyone could let a car get to that horrible condition 🤬

Great story. Sorry you didn’t win but something always comes along. Cool if your wife to call and give you the heads up! I’m going to follow you. You seem like a regular guy with a passion and I admire that!

Thanks for subscribing. Doubt I'll ever find a 64 for the money I want to spend but I guess there is always a chance. When I was a teenager you could pick up a 64 in excellent shape for only $4,000! Wish I knew what the future held and I could have been rich today!

That wasn't in a garage. They needed to clean it up first

It actually was in a garage. But it was a crappy garage full of junk. Crazy it was in that bad of shape and he was the only owner.

Wow that Vette needed alot of work 10 to maybe 12k I agree with you 21 is way over

They're only worth over 100 grand restored, when you even have the opportunity to find one for sale. You're the type who shows up at someone's house offering a lump of coal for a piece of gold.

Hi, I'm from Europe. This is one of my dream cars. What do you currently pay for such a corvette c2 in the States? Such a condition and in a well restored? Not in one tuned!
@trashbandit24493 жыл бұрын
This condition for a convertible? 20k USD maybe. Good condition convertible is about 50k. This as a coupe would be around 30k, good condition would be about 65k.

Man i miss this car. My dad had a 64. Sadly he got into a fight with the mechanic and the mechanic put it outside as a result. When we picked it up, it warped the fiberglass.

If your wife made you aware of this auction and was willing to go the 10K, I think you married into the right family!

Oh, we have no money. We just figured out a way to get the money. My wife rarely tries to talk me out of anything... which can prove bad sometimes. But, she likes Vettes as much as I do.

$21K was a good price. Just think, a $40k restoration and you would have a $100k vehicle easily! I've seen some questionable ones sold at Mecum for $60-$70K and still need some serious work done on them!

I am on my 5th corvette You are dreaming if you think this car restored would bring $100,000.

No way a 100,000 car base model no air no power steering or brakes ...basic rag top
@DG-sf9ei15 күн бұрын
Depending on location where your selling or auctioning. Obviously if your in the back woods where the 2 prior commentaries are at.......they won't buy it for over a penny of what this car sold for new. To their demise and failure however, the internet exists or the car could be transported to venues like Barrett Jackson, where it'd easily fetch over 100 grand restored.

Guess so. I really don't think it was worth what they paid for it. I see nice ones in the 30k range all the time.

Lol, yeah look around him, he's never been in the market for a 60s Corvette. Entirely different beast and market altogether
@geraldscott43023 жыл бұрын
I not only wouldn't have paid anything for that car, but even if I got it for free, it is debatable whether I would have tried to restore it. It is not that rare, and it did not seem to have one single good part on it. It would cost a fortune just to put the body back together. The frame was likely rusted beyond repair. You would probably be looking at at least $50K to restore that car, possibly a lot more. And virtually every part on it would be a reproduction.
@Atrium5123 жыл бұрын
I agree. You could buy one already restored cheaper than what it would cost to restore this one.
@C3Stingray3 жыл бұрын
There was a guy there that had just rebuilt one and he said it would cost at least 30K to fix up. He was there to bid and he backed out real fast. The guy that bought it is one of those people that would take it to a shop and pay out the butt to have it fixed. Afterwards it would sit in a garage and it would just get talked about. Anything I buy, I drive. Not interested in a trophy car.
