My Dad bought a new 65 Impala,9 passenger station wagon with the 327, 4 barrel, 3 speed on the column. After we started pulling a tent trailer he decided to put a Muncie 4 speed with a Hurst Competition Plus linkage on the floor. My Mom would do a little drag racing while we went to get groceries, lol. Never had any problems with it. Thanks for the memories

In 1965, and again in 1966, Chevy Impala as a single car model sold over one million units. Never done before, and never done since. I had a red one like this with a 283 automatic & it was one of the best cars I've ever owned. I'd take this Impala over anything it raced in this video.

Many moons ago I owned a '65 SS Impala. If I had I kept it my powertrain upgrades were nearly identical to this one. I had designs to run an ATI Procharger like this one but on a 383 Chevy rather than 400. While I owned it, I swapped out the Powerglide trans for a TH350, bolted on Vette "fuelie" heads to the 327, added a Performer RPM intake, Holly Double Pumper, Mallory ignition, Hooker headers and Flowmasters dumped at the rear axle, rebuilt the suspension and dropped it by 2 inches. It wasn't a strip monster but a fantastic road car and a hell of a lot of fun. I miss that car every day… but I still have some fun toys.

Remember when vortec was the go to centrifugal 'charger? I know they are still around but Procharger really stepped up their game about 15 years ago and kinda took over as far as centrifugal's go. Nowdays it seems the biggest worry about building a boosted anything is the decision to go turbo or centrifugal? Does one want to step up to a more complex twin turbo setup or fight with belt issues on a big single Procharger? What a connundrum... LoL

I had a brand new 1967 Impala SS 396. The sticker price was $3,978. The only cars that gave it a run were a Chevelle or a Vette. I wish I had been smart enough to keep it, but to prove my stupidity, I kept it until 1973 and traded it fie a Hatchback Vega GT. It embarrasses me to admit it. The engine in that POS melted with the outside temp of -14 degrees F on NewYear’s eve six moths later. The engine was replaced, and I traded it for a Pontiac Grand Prix. Beautiful metallic blue with a white vinyl top and white interior, but it was no SS 396.

My first car in 1965 was a 1963 Impala convertible wanted a 65 bad but couldn’t afford it. 327 wasn’t fast compared to these, but the girls loved it!

I'm not a huge challenger fan but I promise you that impala is nowhere near 4400 pounds! My guess is around 3750, but maybe just maybe a max 4050lbs

That's one stupid looking Impala. My parents had a '65 Impala Wagon. I took the wheels off of my '55 Nomad and put them on the Impala. 5 spoke Torque Thrusts, looked cool. In 2000, I built a '65 Biscayne 2 door with a 550hp 454, 6 speed. I used Rally Wheels and caps. Real Hot Rods have 3 pedals.

Pimp my Ride did a show on a '65 Impala. They put a 750 HP twin turbo Duramax diesel in it. Ran on french fry oil. It smoked a Lamborghini !!! This car would be a good match for the other Impala. Not sure what elapsed time was, but it was epic. It still exists in KZbin.

One of my favorite cars ever. If I were offered the choice between a white 2-door 66 Caprice with blue interior or a Ferrari, I’d have to think long and hard. (Probably go with the Caprice).

@@ellisadrain6476 Oh Yeah nice with the 396... '73 was bad but I remember when the second gas crisis hit in '79. We were selling gas by the 1/2 Gallon at our Sunoco station until the pumps were retrofitted because it couldn't record past 99 Cents a Gallon. My buddy bought a beautiful '75 Coupe deVille for $300 when people were unloading their big American cars in 1980
