My grandfather passed away this past Monday, his 1967 Chevelle SS in Marina Blue is being passed to me, he never got the chance to teach me how to care for th car or even drive it, it hasn’t been started in over a year and is sitting on a. Trickle charger. I’m horrified but excited to learn and take it to car shows in his honor
@jamescon55
@jamescon55 Жыл бұрын
Aren't they called triple chargers? 🤔 Plus, it's not really TOO much to having an old restored classic car. Just ALWAYS keep up the fluids and DRIVING it, NOT just letting em sit. THAT'S actually the hardest thing on them. When they get parked forever and NOT at least KEPT started every couple weeks, with at least a quick run around the block or something....👍

Upon my return from Nam 01/70 I bought an all black 67 SS Chevelle 396cu, 375 HP 4 bolt main, 4sd, 411 rear, and added hooker headers and Holley dual feed. All black interior with the Chevy walnut steering wheel, a real beauty and performer. I waxed it weekly and dressed the tires so It was no surprise that it turned heads everywhere I went. Most folks didn’t know me but knew the car being the only black SS around but mostly cause it blew away every thing it ran against every Sunday at the local track. After I got married and planned on being a parent I sold it and bought a new 72 SS Chevelle, 350, auto. Two of the best cars I ever owned and to this day I often miss that black 67 SS. What a fantastic ride!

BLACK IS 👑.... OR? Yeah, you COULD have the car in Marina Blue and be like, HOW MANY other Joe schmos with a 66-67 Chevelle painted Marina Blue too. NO way... IF ya gotta be 🔵 blue? Then go Mist Blue (for 66) or the Nantucket Blue (for 67), REALLY similar.... Those blues actually have way better paint flopping characteristics (from like a blue gray or the blue green turquoise look when in certain light etc.) And hey, I do like Marina Blue too! I just prefer the other blue a bit more, and of course, BLACK IS BLACK. And when it's done CORRECTLY?.... It's near impossible to beat! (where I am from, anyways) 😎🤘🔥🤘

I hate it when drivers plunge the clutch pedal down first pulling up to a stop. You should ALWAYS push in the brake first and let the engine slow you down (maybe even downshift) then the last 10 feet or so push in on the clutch so the engine doesn't lurch. I can always tell who was shown the proper way to drive a 4 speed.

@@jamescon55 You can absolutely build one for less than half of these asking prices if you do the work yourself. I’ve done well over a dozen SHOW QUALITY restorations of late 60s Mopars and GMs I’ve owned over the last 30 years. 68-69 Chargers, Road Runners, Darts, Barracudas, Chevelles, Novas, etc. I don’t farm anything out, and have the skill to do laser straight body and paint, engine/trans/rear end builds, chassis fab, electrical, interior, etc. I’ve built full race cars, and the list goes on. If you have the skill and don’t pay someone else to work for you, then you come out way ahead.

Yeah, the 67 year only DID HAVE the blinker tach OPTION. Again, it was an option. NOT ALL 67s had the blinker tach. Especially, any of the Malibu or 300/300 Deluxe line...I "could be" incorrect about the blinker tach ONLY being an available option for the actual BB Super Sport Chevelles but? I have NEVER seen the blinker tach in ANY NON SS Chevelles, so.... And YES. The blinker tach WAS an option for 67 SS CHEVELLES, meaning? NOT ALL 67 SS CHEVELLES had them originally. And yeah, I am betting that the featured 67( in the video) is NOT a original 138 # true SS car, neither. IF so? THAT would've been the 1st thing that got described on the car. 😎🤘

Tach was an option for the 67 SS Chevelle. I owned an all black 67 SS 396 cu. 375 Hp 4 bolt main with a 411 posi. I installed a beautiful Sun Tach on the steering column which didn’t take much eye movement from road to tach when racing.

Man, I wished my Dad held on to his SS and I would have swapped the engine out. Why? He re-jetted the carb, adjusted the timing and put in a different cam. It would pull the front tires off the ground. He floated a valve and Chevy "fixed" it, but it wasn't the same since.
