1968 AMC Javelin. Will it DRIVE after 37 YEARS ABANDONED? Needs a Shift Linkage so let build one!

I got the Javelin running in last weeks video. This rig sounds healthy, but there was no linkage between the column and transmission. So let’s see if we can build a makeshift shifter to get her driving around in the yard. Yall enjoy the video and please Like, Comment, and Subscribe.

You could always do what we did in the 90's and tub it out. All that rust be gone then!

I think ima get some metal and try and fix it, I found a company that has decent prices on small patch panels. So the next video of the car will be working on some rust lol

I like the temporary fuel tank. Put one on the roof and ran it on a siphon once. We didn't have access to an electric pump.

Although there is nothing that can't be fixed, that might be better as someone's parts car. There's nothing wrong with a 290 but you'd wish it were a 343 (or 390). With the 290 2bbl did it have the lighter trans? I don't quite recall. Let someone take it off your hands or get a better candidate Jav for which this could be a good donner car for misc. parts. That's a shame to say as I own two AMCs from this general era and we love 'em and drive the wheels of 'em. But that one may be past the point of reason.

I 100% agree with you if I had a stockpile of AMC parts or another decent shell laying around it would be perfect. It’s posted on marketplace right now I’m hoping someone will see it and need parts to give at least one Javelin life.

Hi mate it's a shame the shell is so rusted out but it still has a ton of good parts on it for keeping another AMC on the road but we'll done for figuring out the shift linkage that's a real head scratcher
