Hello and welcome to my channel! I want to introduce my 1968 Dodge Charger project car. This car requires a complete restoration and I will do my best to document the process in what will be a long series of videos.
In this episode I do a complete start to finish DIY on how to install the rear seat pan and footwell panels. In order to fit between our mini tubs I had to section 5" out of the rear seat pan. Overall it turned out fantastic! & definitely added a TON of strength back into the car!
Next up is the rear window channel and deck filler! Followed by the trunk pan, rear quarters, and tail panel install. Progress is happening quick! Please subscribe to stay up to date!
As always, the quality of the new AMD sheet metal for this video was outstanding! The fitment is great! Check it out!
If you'd like to support the channel, please check out our merch below! Also follow me on Instagram for more pictures of the build. @Rust_Bucket_Restos

As a South African, what amazes me about the American auto scene is the people behind it, the people building their cars. I mean this wizard could literally be an Accountant yet he has the artisanal skill to do this in his spare time. I am amazed by the amount of skill the average American has across many fields. If there is one thing I envy about Americans, it is their "can do" approach to things.

I'd paint it green as I feel it is the most classic color choice and it would be a wonderful way to pay tribute to the original green paint and the original owner. A modern take on an old school American muscle car.

I lol'd when your little human was teasing you about Mustangs. Back in the 1980s to early 90s everyone and their brother had a fox body Mustang, or so it seemed. He may grow out of the Mustang phase but there are worse things he could want. I vote for the dark green color for this car. Happy New Year and cheers to AMD!!

Mustangs LOL. My brother used to drive a Mustang, but he's all better now. As far as paint I would go with the F8 Green. I really like the high impact colors of the early 70's. I had a Go Mango 69 1/2 Super Bee 440 6 PACK. I loved hat car. I am now doing a 70 Road Runner 440 6 Barrel and I think I am going to paint it Lime Light, or Sublime to the Dodge guys. I have enjoyed watching you series of videos as you have resurrected this true classic. I have been working on cars since the 60's and doing bodywork since the 70's. Although there was some things I would have gone about differently, you are doing a great job!

That narrowing of the floor pan was very clever my friend. I'm learning a lot. If we were able to get L50s on 10" cragars on my buddy's 69', back in 75', I wonder what you'll be able to squeeze into your widened wheelwells? I see you've discovered one of Mopar's drivetrain tricks that allowed us to squeeze the biggest engines into smaller engine compartments and still fit our steering gear around the largest exhaust systems in the industry(back then). When you measure your 8 3/4" rear end you'll notice the built in offset. The fools that desecrate their Mopar's with a Ford 9", quickly discover getting it centered to Mopar spec, drives the cost well over what finding a Mopar axle for it costs. Besides, a 9 3/4" Mopar Dana 60 is magnitudes stronger than Henry's best anyway(and a damnsight stronger than those 10 and 12 bolt grenades the General used to scatter all over streets and tracks). Your son is growing like a weed and will hopefully outgrow his penchant for Mustangs too. Some of my friends had me wrenching on their FE 390s and 428s in the early to mid 70s too. That all changed as they got tired of watching A, B and E body tail lights. By the time I left the Lakes in 77' all my Ford buddies(and a lot of my GM buddies) were subscribing to Mopar or no car. Your son(and we're hoping the Canadian voter) will soon enough outgrow style over substance and leave his Ford affliction behind him(much like I pray we dump our economic imbecile of a Prime Minister). Really enjoying the pans going in. Great work! Malcolm Ottawa Valley

What you accomplished in two and a half days is amazing my friend, Songbird did the exact same thing to General Mayhem with the mini tubs, he cut the panel to fit the frame rails exact, welded it in so it was fully boxed. He then welded those little filler pieces over the top, to connect the wheel well to the floor pan, nice but didn`t look stock. You took the time to graft those little pieces to the floor pan so you would have just one panel, so it looked factory, he had three pieces. The extra time in fitting those pieces in sure paid off, it looks like factory, I agree, fully weld that V support. Nice job for three days work let me tell you, your fabricating skills are spot on, that floor looks stout. It would have taken me three days just to drill the holes. That is a nice little shop you have going on there, everything you need right at your finger tips, can`t wait to see the window channel go in, I have never seen that before. I hope you get a million subscribers for your effort sir. Nothing is center, even the motor is not centered on the b bodies, Songbird found that out when he built the scoop for the tunnel ram, he had to offset it. Very nice job looks great. Didn`t mean to bore ya, hehe.

It sure is a pleasure to see somebody take the time and giving the attention to detail that you have done so far. What you are building is really no longer an assembly line factory product. Thanks to all the extra care you have taken with this build, it's now a hand crafted car, something along the lines of a Rolls Royce or a Dusenberg. The ride, the handling, and the longevity of this car will be light years beyond anything that a factory could produce. Again, taking the time and giving attention to the details will set this one apart from most of what's on the road. Your skills and your work ethic are to be commended, sir.

I don’t normally comment on videos but love what your doing with this car. Also love seeing your little guy in the background working on his toy cars. I absolutely dislike all doge products specially now that fiat owns them but I love the classics like this one. Even though you dislike mustangs they did play an important part in muscle car history. If it wasn’t for the mustang we would have the camero or the charges. Who knows what we would have. Anyway keep it up and can’t wait to see your other project come to life and see this one completed. 👏

On a more serious note i can't wait to see as coin allows, for you to graduate to ditching the plug weld philosophy to professional factory assembly techniques aka 51 machines. Your work will truely elevate to the next level of professionalism. Keep up the fantastic energy!!!
