I think they ( 1st gen Cougars ) were the best looking pony cars of all time.

Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass - love it !

Although it sounds likely Herb Alpert. I think this music was more than likely done by the famous "Wrecking Crew" in a studio. My understanding is that Apert's first album's band was the "Wrecking Crew". When it took off, he created a band to tour the world. Alpert is still active while many of the "wrecking crew" have past away.

Have to disagree . . . Herp Albert and the Tijuana Brass started putting out albums in 1962. This song is on the 1965 album "Going Places". This commercial is 1968 when they were already popular and all over the radio and played a lot in my house. I was alive and well during the 1960's and remember it well. Herb is the "A" in "A&M records" and was a big label back then, with Chris Montez, Burt Bacharach, Carpenters, etc. on his label as well as his Tijuana Brass. I still have many of Tijuana Brass albums.

Thanks for posting this. This era Ford did a really good job with the Mercury product line. For the most part they were not just badge engineered Fords.
