your safe milling the 906 to .060 without having to touch the intake , ive got 2 sets in ported and flowed the best i could pull is a bit over 300cfm which would get 600hp no way your getting 600 with a stock port size they can only do so much expect around 480-500 with a .525 herb mccandless grind , he was sweet on .525 . ive got a 6 pack intake for my low deck 383/426 ive come to the conclusion im gonna have to run the rochesters. its just a show piece i only want 450-480hp holley sells reman carbs for around 460 -each those 906s only flow enough to get you to about 500hp stock 600 properly ported.

Factory big block valve covers look great with good paint and kept clean. Same with factory air cleaners. At least in the Mopar world, aluminum valve covers are out of style and guys are paying good money for the correct year factory steel ones. Maybe not so in the Ford world where Windsor aluminum valve covers cost a fortune. If it were a 67, I'd say "look for factory chrome valve covers" but I am not totally sure they were included on 440 cars, even on B body cars.

I don't think cutting heads or the block to increase compression is ever a good idea.. When you cut heads more than just a clean up you have to cut the intake surface by a certain amount or the intake manifold will sit too high. And then you have a finicky system. If your friend did not have a machine shop, it would be better to just buy cheap aluminum heads which have a smaller combustion chamber Finally, higher compression was what they recommended for track cars when you could buy high octane fuel almost everywhere. Where I live , all we have is 91 octane with 15 percent ethanol. So whatever you gain with compression, you lose with having to run less spark timing.

I'm not concerned with the geometry with a limited cut such as .030 like mentioned. I have an engine with heads cut .050 and the intake fits fine. I don't want to run the aluminum heads because this engine will be very stock appearing overall.

@@ryanbarsness Can you ask your machinist what it costs to do a valve job and to cut the heads 050 in the bottom and the intake mounting surface for two heads? As I recall, cutting equal amounts is roughly the right number but there is a formula. I suppose I should not assume a set of new aluminum heads doesn't repair with the way they try to sell us schlocky stuff these days, according to another KZbin guy with a machine shop. Do you have access to cheap but good gas where you are? I thought you were in So Cal or Nevada, but I may have been thinking of Chris Birdsong.

That car reminds me of my 69 GTX from back in the day. I think the color is the same. I'm afraid my car was "kitched" up with a purple paint job by a previous owner. I would love to see you patch up those worn out areas with new mint green or meadow green paint. I am not a fan of patina in cars. I know where that leads in cars that are kept outside at night.
