The rating on the door jam is for brake hp or at the crank. Your testing hp at the back wheel. Big difference. It did pretty good for a old wore out motor.

I typically hit those plastic posts like on the dash cluster with a small dab of thin super clue. Clean out any excess with air or a Q-tip. It helps fix any cracks you don't see before you run gently a screw back in.

Graft a chevy coil top distrubter onto your ford bottom add a chevy 1 wire alternator . An upside down 2x to 4x carb adapter and a good carb I used a cheap Eldebrock with tiny primarys an it ran cheaper with 3x the power !!! This was in a converted school bus . Mileage was 7 and went to 14 !!!

Funny but the public doesn't know all FE blocks have same bore and crank journals. Just toss in the rods that you desire and tag it. Definitely do a timing chain asa I have seen them running and you could make the chain nearly walk over the teeth cause the plastic come off the cam gear. Plus those chains stretch for miles/LOL I would roll bearings, rings and scuff the cylinder walls with a recreational cam and they wake right up. Try and find the biggest valves that you can and plain the heads on the piston side as well as the intake side then the intake too. It really makes a difference when you up the compression and the timing is tight... go electronic timing and put the points in the glove box and forget them. don't go fancy coil and cap, not worth it good video, new subscriber tonight

If I’m not mistaken, the 390 has about a 1/4” more stroke on it than the 360. Not sure if longer rods/shorter pistons would make any difference in displacement (I suck at math lol) but those old FE’s are great engines. I especially love the sound of the 360’s.

The HP rating was crank HP, not wheel HP. You lose 50-80hp through your driveline from friction and viscous drag. So there was no way that it was ever going to make 175hp on the chassis dyno. It wouldn’t have done so, even when brand new.

DarkLinkAD Ok. Yesterday I drove my 318 Lifted Ramcharger in the snow up to my workshop and broke in my home rebuilt FE390 in my F100. The chevelle’s both have a V8 one 502 the other a 283 but the 283 doesn’t fit your rulebook so we can’t count that one. My friend which I share workshop with has four running mopars with V8, and one of my closest friend is just wrapping up his old school flathead build as we speak. Which according to your rules neither can be counted. You are welcome to Norway, you clearly haven’t been here much.

I'm just entertained by nitrous. I kinda wanted to see it make 175hp at the wheels... I should have driven the truck afterwards, used nitrous and seen if it would do a burnout... just for a fun butt dyno baseline. Cool that we basically have the same truck!

Hey, bro, please tell us why you're not even considering restomodding this great find? I mean, hell - were I to have found a reasonably restorable truck such as this, I'd still have the same amount of fun your having, but, afterward, turning it into a restomod project with a junkyard salvaged 427, 428, or even a 429 SCJ, which I'm certain you could find on the internet, (Obviously, you'll need a new motor for it after this one BLOWS UP because you fed it nitros!
