As I recall, West, and others were injured and did not play in this game. For a couple of years in the 1960's (1968 & 69) the NBA All Star Game was played on Tuesday evening.

29:44 this was that moment that the NBA really screwed up scheduling the ASG on a Tuesday and on a night the President did his State of the Union address. Not a brilliant marketing strategy on the NBAs part

quit bitchin about money...players are entitled to earn a fair portion of what they generate. The players generate the revenue; the owners who use to hog all the money, don't generate shit...nobody buys a ticket or watches TV to see an owner. Quit bitchin unless you don't think you and your family deserve a fair wage wherever you work.

@@michaelterry4394 - so what? Most corporate CEO's, Wall Street Executives, and Private Equity Partners make 10 or 20 TIMES more than what the average player makes. Athletes played pro sports for damn near 100 years before winning lawsuits all the way up to the Supreme Court to earn the right to get their fair share of the profits they generate, and the right to have legal representation negotiate their contract. They earn everything their agents negotiate for them.

It’s quite interesting looking at the history of basketball. The timespan from when this game aired to today’s game and seeing so much similarities is wondrous. The game has certainly evolved, but the traditions are still valued and respected.

Absolutely. Say whatever you want about comparisons about today's players and players in the 60s, but the All-Star game was MUCH better. Today's All-Star game is unwatchable and I LOVE NBA basketball- including today's game, most of the time.

What is so clear is that the real All Stars had the athletic ability and basic acumen to step into today's training rooms and compete. Wilt, Elvin Hayes, Baylor, Earl - they translate. Imagine Wilt coming out in next years draft at 19, or Russell, or Elvin

@@jgallagher1359 You're focusing on skill. Obviously the game has evolved a lot in terms of skill. But in terms of size and athleticism, yes, the top players of that era could EASILY hold their own w/ the top players today. There's not much difference other than modern weight training between these guys and the players today. And, frankly, the cats in this game have pretty strong builds; not a Chet Holmgren in sight.
