We’re looking at a 1970/71 Plymouth Duster Rapid Transit System Promotion car in Green Paint. The car features a factory installed 340 CI V8 engine.
The car's Owner is Steven Juliano, and Steven recently passed away. This car show is dedicated to him. The cars shared by Care Taker Craig & Michele Dozeman. Michele shares details of this amazing former promotion car.

Had a 71' 340 4spd Plum Crazy Duster w/ 4:56's. I could spank plenty of big block cars with that if you knew how to set up the suspension properly. It was a low 13 sec. car in the 70's with just a few mods. Although the factory rated the 340 at 275 hp,NHRA has it at 323 hp. I've watched the Rapid Transit cars since i was a kid and owned plenty of 340's and still own a 69' Dodge with a 418" small block stroker. GREAT coverage Lou,can't wait to see the 70' and 71' Rapid Transit cars. I read all about how Steve acquired these and took them from Mud to Gems. He was THEE Mopar nut,sorry to hear of his passing.

Yeah! My brother and I, when I was 11, were hunting want ads, little nickel, and cruised auto rows in a 70 mile radius from our house, searching for a GT Dart with a 383 or 440.... LOL... Like that was possible even in 78! After an autoshop class or two, he figured out weight to hp ratio and hp to torque output graphs..... Needless to say, he ended up with a 340 Demon..... He and his buddy's did a weekend cam, headers, carb, intake manifold and then an exhaust job that Monday..... He gave me a ride and I damn near pissed myself. That car scared the living crap out of me! The 340 is one of the most underrated engines ever produced. I'm in total agreement....

A friend of mine received one for a birthday present at 16. He took me for a ride in it. All I could say was WOW! This was in '83. It was mostly stock except for glass packs and a shift kit in the automatic transmission. It effortlessly chirped 2nd. He totaled it 2 weeks later...

This Duster has a very very interesting backstory. It was sold into the public, then it was used as a car and driven, at some point it was parked in a parking garage in Detriot where it was abandoned. It stayed parked in this indoor parking lot for year and years. Finally, the previous owner was hunting for this exact car and posted ads in the back of car magazines asking if anyone knew what might have happened to it. One person replied and said they parked next to it in a parking garage in Detriot. Once hearing the news the person looking for the car flew to Detroit and confirmed that it was the car they were after. This is when the next problem arose, and that was the car could not be sold. The car had been in the parking garage for so long but the parking garage did not legally own it. They did, however, have a debt with the person who did own it for back parking fees. So months went by and the parking garage called back the person looking for the car and said the preformed a lien sale and held a public auction and no one arrived and bid on the car so they have the title on it and were finally able to sell it. The rest is history, it was fully restored and is now back in the show circuit with its siblings.

Wow! Sorry to here of Steve's passing! He was a person who i have read about his cars for many many years! He a had a love of Mopars, especially concept car's. These car right here are a perfect example of his quest to save and preserve these cars for future generations to see. We will never again see the bold styling cues done to cars such as these. The front end looks very different with 4 headlights not 2, the front bumper is thin & wraps around the front of the fender too. No rear bumper on it looks very different. No door handles also... wow Too bad we couldn't see the engine compartment... Please try to make a part 2 Lou! lol Thumbs up! 👍🏻

This Duster is somewhat different and customized compared to the 1970 Duster I had bought stock and new from the factory. I loved that car and it was well built and quite fast. Nice video.

@@loucostabile Lou, I have always been a mopar fan. Wings rule and if I had to choose three I would say the Daytona, Superbird and the 71' Runner/GTX in Sassy grass. Non mopar would be 69 Boss 429, 69' Yenko Camaro, and 74' SD 455 BIrd. Exotics 56 Gull wing Benz, 68' Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona and a wild card would be a Vector W8 twin turbo. An oldie would be a 1936 Duesenberg SSJ Speedster ( really most any Duesy) for 10. I think you do the best job and showing all these classic rides but the ride alongs are the best.

Fun update, the RTS 'Cuda just sold for $2 million. I have a '70 Duster that my parents bought new from Bob Banning in Hyattsville Maryland. 318 auto, A/C, disc brakes, vinyl top, Rallye wheels, and interior and light groups. This is a fantastic piece of Mopar history, but that front end is just awful compared to stock.

the duster's front styling is not unlike the british mercury capris of the mid seventies, really cortinas or something in UK. well, not really a grocery getter.. fuel stems on both sides of the trunk is fine. chargers and satellites are all over the place, "rapid transit system" editions or no: you certainly chose the right one of these to feature. wow, what an aggressive paint scheme. fun to see this one here!

Those front headlights look similar to those of Sweden car call Verderjo if I'm Not mistaken,A very luxury car that both Sweden and Chrysler got to together in the 70s as you all may know Chrysler and other countries got involved like the Jensen interceptor almost similar headlights and Ghia of italy.

Hey Lou, I wish I had your job. Boy those gas caps are hideous after thoughts. Great custom car but those are certainly a [what about the gas filler cap], especially when the charger had 1 of the best caps known to man.
