On "My Car Story" we're at Alpio’s @ Troon ( An Event Center ) in Scottsdale AZ on 8-4-17.
We're looking at a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport “ SS ” in Blue Paint with White Stripes. This car features the 396 engine.
The car's Owner is Alpio Barbara. Alpio’s had this car since 2016. He became a “Car Guy” at a young age when his Brother would work on cars and then have him test drive them. Those rides in the cars fueled his passion and desire to one day own some of those cars he’d driven in.
Well the great thing is, he likes to share the beauty of his cars with others to enjoy too. He’s the President of Alpio’s @ Troon where he shares his collection of cars, motorcycles, 1950’s and sports memorabilia, and games with people who’d like to have a fun destination for an event.

Mulsanne blue. My parents had a '69 SS that color. It had a white vinyl roof and white bucket seats. Beautiful car. Lasted a day in the showroom before my old man snapped it up. My sister ended up wrapping it around a tree. It had the same redlines, rims and tailpipe tips as this one. It had constant problems with the exhaust and us kids were riding around in the back in the fumes.

Don't like the redlines. They came with wide O oval 60s white letters. Be nice if it was an L78 car. And that aftermarket dash looks wierd with chrome surrounds on the gauges/tach/ speedo. The factory dull silver looks way better. It's a dead giveaway it's not the factory dash. Still looks good tho

It also had a Powerglide shift indicator - note the long jump from Park to Reverse, and only one lower gear. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing. Maybe the tires, but I actually like the red against that dark blue.
