These are so awesome! I really do love these older vacuum cleaners, especially the growl they make on the carpets! I'm sorry the lower cord hook didn't work out. You still did a fantastic job!

Roger, at 19:50 you put the belt on the spindle the wrong way round, so as you may well know, the brushroll would have been spinning in reverse. I notice a lot of people seem to do this - and on a Junior, the belt jumps straight back off when the vacuum is started, so you have to get the belt on the right way on one of them, but the senior will let you put the belt on back to front and the agitator will simply spin the wrong way. God knows how many people back in the day got the belts on the wrong way round - I suspect quite a lot.

We have the exact model and I repaired the lower hook using something called Steel Putty. I drilled very small holes in both sides of the pieces, then superglued small pins in each hole to reinforce the hook. Then used the Steel Putty to fill the gaps, then more superglue. Feels very tight and strong now. I love your videos and I would like you to branch into other vintage domestic appliances such as Teasmades etc? We love our 70's appliances and household styles. Thank you for the video! Nick

I have a few vintage appliances other than vacuums including irons, food mixers, hairdryers, drills and a few vintage electronics. I will show them on my channel at some point, though the electronics will be on my other channel Roger’s Bits & Doings.

These are pure fantasy for me. Almost impossible to get shipped to Finland. Oh well I need to enjoy my Kirby Tradition from the same era. But dream of Hoover Senior never fades away.

An excellent trio of Hoover Ranger Seniors Roger. My collection of vacuums is limited to an Electrolux Z65 and a Kirby G4. Other than these we just have a Shark upright and a Numatic Henry everyday use. I’d be happy to own anyone of the trio you’ve shown us in this video. An entertaining video Roger, thanks for sharing.

Love these! How cool to have a NIB one! Just like the Junior you have! I’m jealous 😃 - I’m sure I dreamt this but I could swear I remember ASDA briefly selling these in the 90’s! It’s so vivid I refuse to believe I imagined it??

These were really popular in South Africa! They pop up in a lot of charity shops. Our factory called them the Senior Deluxe though 😀

Hey Roger... the next time you store a vacuum in a plastic container try putting several desiccant bead packs in with the vacuum and throw a couple underneath it. This will absorb any moisture/humidity so your machine doesn't suffer from rust or oxidation (the white powder on that aluminum). They're very cheap to buy and they'll save you a lot of headaches when getting a machine out of storage. 😊
@zackaboy12363 жыл бұрын
Yes that’s an excellent idea, you can probably bulk buy them…

It's a shame newer cleaners don't use the beater bar technology they use to use. You can hear that sweeper beating the hell out of the carpet. Newer units just don't seem to have that kind of aggressive agitation. All of them are beautiful units though. Thanks for sharing!

Those were definitively ' The Monster Hoovers of the Metal Midway ' Being in So. Cal. I used to service & repair the old American metal Hoovers too. I've got to start up again repairing & servicing old & new (all makes & models ) again due to r lame Presidents way of handling our economy. I'm thinking a good serviced , deodorized & sanitized vacuum cleaner would cut down many illness's that come from a filthy carpet & neglected vacuum . A good service for the respectable vintage Hoover & Eureka uprights should be around $ 39.00 to $ 49.00 depending on it's condition. I usually don't like cutting corners when servicing these relics cause they can outlast a human beings life span when treated with proper TLC. This is no solicitation thing, just a love for old vacuum cleaners. Any thumbs up ? Wish me well...
