Larry Hawkins The car in the video is a model year 1973 Electra 225. There were only two models for 1973: The Electra 225 (series 4CT) and the Electra 225 Custom (series 4CV). Limited was an option package for the Electra 225 Custom models. For model year 1974 there were indeed three models available: Electra (4CT), the Electra Custom (4CV) and the Electra Limited (4CX). But since the car in the video is a '73.....

When I was 16 back in 1976 my dad got a company car and handed me the keys to his 72 Electra 225. It was white with a black vinyl top. I loved to take it on the highway because you could tell how fast you were going by watching the speed o or the gas gage. You could actually watch it going down at high speeds. I used to light up the tires in front of my high school and the guys with the banger old Novas would hang their heads in shame.

I had the same car: in that greyed out, 1970s, butter-yellow. Bought it for a steal in 1995-96, in great condition. It was fast. To drive down country roads at night, in your 20s, in the summer, powering down all 4 pillar-less windows at once--there's nothing to compare. All that open window space! It was easy to go fast too with that 455 V8/4brl carburetor! Great memories. I would have killed for this blue one--my favorite color. I'm grateful I had one, of any color, thinking back on it now. Thanks for the video.

Beautiful Buick!! Love the 1971 to 1976 Buick C Bodies. The 1975 Electra 4 door hardtop was the longest car GM ever built. I personally own a 1976 Buick Electra Limited 4 door hardtop and LOVE it. I looked for a 2 door for years but finally decided I liked the huge gape in the side of these non post 4 doors better. It is almost like driving a convertible when the windows are all down. My love affair with these beasts started when I was a child and my mom had a 1973 Buick Estate Wagon. Looked identical to this car but in wagon form. Personally, my first love is Pontiac's and I collect Trans Am's and GTO's. However, my Electra draws a crowd like flies when I take it to a car show. Videos and pictures do not do these cars justice. You have to walk around one to appreciate it. These were the last "true" Buick's in my opinion. Thanks for posting!!

C K, They were nice cars, but the Buick was the longest hardtop GM made, but the Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham was slightly longer. A hardtop is missing the B-pillar, sedans have the B-Pillar. This is a hardtop, not a sedan like the title says. The Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham is a sedan, the Cadillac Sedan Deville is actually a hardtop, not a sedan.

In 1973 this Buick Electra 225 was considered one of the best luxury automobiles on the road. Even though it was a large automobile, it was easy to drive and comfortable too! In the evening, from a distance, you didn't have to wonder what was approaching you on the road, you knew it was an Electra 225... Today, automobiles all look the same, no distinction what-so-ever... On my street we had deVilles, Electras & Ninety Eights, it was great seeing these parked in driveways!

I had a 73 LeSabre, Buick 350, a 78 Electra, 403 Olds, and a 79 Electra Limited, 350 Buick. The 350 Buick engine sucked. The 73 had overheating issues that never went away, and the 79 just ran crappy...I did have to do head gaskets, rebuilt the carburetor(enlarging the primary hue size to make up for modern, ethanol filled gas)...it ran like a 6 cylinder...hated it. The 455 was great. The 403 Olds, a highly bored out Olds 350, was high on torque, and a wonderful engine. It wasn't great on fuel mileage, but run excellent...I bought it at 100k(One owner, which I knew), and sold it at about 270k...stilk running well, no oil usage. I should have sold the 79 and repainted the 78. I love the 77-84. The downfall was the powerless 307 in 1981.
