Unusual looking road runner. My 74 had the hood tach with Plymouth written on the face. I miss her after seeing this. Thanks Lou

I love it!!! I had a '73, I special ordered it before I went into the service in Sept of '72. Picked her up after basic training. Almost identical with a couple of things different. She didn't have the vinyl top or the rear spoiler. She was red with black stripes, a 340 (which was stated to have 245 horse, it dyno'd at 282 horse stock) the slap stick console, rally package that included the rally dash with the tach on the left and the speedometer where your clock is. A rally steering wheel and the rally wheels. It had a 323 rear end and I could do 150 mph at 5300 rpm. I would wax her every 2 wks. She was my sweetheart.

Good God, this takes me back to 1981, being 4 years old and riding in the back of my dad's Roadrunner. I would get so geeked without a care of where we were going as long as we were getting there in the Roadrunner. Smashing out the screen door to the driveway. Always running my fingers along the shiny, glittery green paint and then touching the cartoon bird decal. "Damn it kid, I just waxed it", my Dad would say as I waited for him to move the seat forward so I could jump into the vinyl seat in back. No seat belt on because I was barely tall enough to see out the triangle window, sitting right over that awesome rumbling, vibrating tailpipe. So loud it was all I could hear.......my zen den in the back seat. Super glad to come upon this video as I search the internet for Plymouth Road Runners. Funny to look at pictures of old car interior but somehow remember the smell of that car on a warm summer night. Hot vinyl, oil, gas and grease. God I loved that car. Car porn for sure. Thanks

Outstanding 73 340 Roadrunner. Love the JF1 Mist Green paint with the white stripes. Man lots of haters on this one about the authenticity of what you could and could not get on them. You could get the halo canopy vinyl top on the 73s. Really rare but you could get them. And Bob says that the hood tach, and the rear wing were bought and installed by the dealer and were not factory options along with the rear window louvers he purchased at the dealer back in the day. Awesome car Lou. Thanks for doing what you do :)

my grandfather bought me a 73 Fury III 4 dr hardtop demonstrator in this same Mist Green with the darker green vinyl interior and a white vinyl roof with a 360 V8 - I later had a hood ornament that came standard on the Gran Sedan and Gran Coupe models installed which spruced it up perfectly - would’ve looked even sharper with a set of stock Mopar chrome styled road wheels

Interesting combination. My 1968 Charger was re-sprayed this color in 1973 because the original owner saw it on a Satellite and loved the color. I never changed it back! However, the green dash and instruments, including the odd-knobbed radio, are the same as in my 71 Super Bee!

Hey Lou! IcePrincess66 here again! I have another story for you. It’s called “My First 4th of July”. It’s set 3 weeks before my first birthday, 4th of July 2007. It was the 4th of July. My real dad was coming home from Afghanistan to celebrate his beloved country’s birthday. I was almost a year old. My 3-year-old brother Boo was excited to see the fireworks which I call “boom-booms”. I had limited vocabulary back then. I was only almost a year old. Roadie, my Plymouth Roadrunner which I had since birth, was decorated with red, white and blue decorations. He was going to beep the National Anthem. I was dressed in an American Flag shirt, military pants, Stars and Stripes socks and patriotic shoes. Boo wore a Monster Jam shirt with blue jean shorts and patriotic flip-flops. Mom was wearing a “Wife of a Soldier” t-shirt with ripped jeans and patriotic sandals. Roadie was red, white and blue with stars and stripes on him. Both sides had American Flags on him. “Beep, beep beep meep meep meep beep!” Roadie happily beeped. He was EXCITED to watch fireworks. Mom had her diaper bag ready for when I needed changed, need something to eat or drink or to play. I wasn’t potty trained yet at the time. My sippy cup had stars and stripes on it. I also had a patriotic pacifier for when I drift off to sleep. Mom’s diaper bag was red, white and blue. “Mommy, when will boom-booms start?” I said to my mom. “Soon, baby girl.” Mom replied. My sentences were chopped because I can’t properly speak yet. I said my first word at only six months. I started speaking sentences by nine months. Mom set up a spot for us. Roadie parked himself next to a tree. Roadie felt like a brother to almost-a-year-old me. He beeped his horn, much to the enjoyment of me. I giggled and clapped. Then I smelled something weird. “Uh, oh. Mommy, I made a stinky.” I said. My mom dug for the diapers but she didn’t see them. “SHOOT! I forgot diapers! Let me grab them real quick, baby girl.” Mom said, realizing what she forgot. She grabbed a pack of diapers out of the backseat of Roadie and changed me. That night, Roadie happily sang the National Anthem like a pro. The fireworks started right after. “Boom-booms!” I said. “Whoa!” Boo said. It was the best 4th of July ever. The End! 🦅🗽💙🤍❤️🇺🇸AMERI-CAW🇺🇸❤️🤍💙🗽🦅

After the service I changed the intake manifold to an Ederlbrock high rise aluminum . Kept the thermo-quad carb. Tried headers but really didn't like them. Went with the factory full-flow exhaust manifolds, had an H pipe put in the exhaust system, put on hemi mufflers, changed the rear end to a 393. It brought that little 340 to life!!!

I have a 73 Plymouth satellite sport that I recently bought. Its sadly not the original color anymore. Me and my friend decided to look at the build plate and found out its original color is mist green. it would actually be very similar to this roadrunner in the video except for the fact it would have a black stripe and no tac on the hood (also it has a 318 not a 340). Looking at the build plate it also says jf8 which as far as I'm aware is that halo vinyl top. I really want to return it to the color with the vinyl top but since I'm a poor high school student I cant....

The hood tach was never a factory option, the go-wing spoiler was not an option in 73-74 and never painted body color on the cars it was available on and there is no way in hell a halo canopy top was available. Seems were only on halo tops that went onto the c-pillars because vinyl rolls were too narrow. No seams ever on canopy tops because the vinyl was wide enough.

What a Waste Ordering this Huge Midsize compact car with a Simple 275 maybe horse small block , when a 426ci Fake Hemispherical engine & 383ci & Two 440's that as Standard gtx 440ci ,were on the Check off box build sheet list. Boring as hell including that goofy half fake rubber top & Granny's mist green exterior on army green interior.& Shift it for ya Burnt out Automatic no wonder why that motorcycle kid killed hisself on that killer bike ride.
@bigredc2227 жыл бұрын
What do you drive?
@ToyKingWonder7 жыл бұрын
It would help if you knew WTF you were talking about. In 1973, the year of this car, the 440 had been detuned with a lower compression ratio and only had 280hp. The 340 had 240 but was a lighter engine. The 400 replaced the 383, the 383 was no longer available. The 426 Hemi engine was not available after 1971. So, you first make statements rattling off a bunch of Mopar engine combinations out of thin air. You know squat about engines, availability, and models. Then you make fun of a kid that killed "hisself" on a bike. Screw you, you freaking moron.

The closest he's gotten to check any order boxes was to ask his Mother to buy the mini van with a DVD player.
@ToyKingWonder7 жыл бұрын
You are wrong Mr. Smith, the van was just something he bragged about in line at the pot dispensary. What he has checked off was which Hot Wheels he wanted off the back of the Cheerios box, but he abandoned that effort as well when he couldn't scrape together the 25 cents for shipping.
@markg70307 жыл бұрын
What is a huge midsize compact car? The 340 is an upgrade because the standard engine was a 318 with dual exhaust during the emissions and gas crisis years.
