It is real nice to see these Javelin's and AMX's being taken care of, as so few even survive to today like this one does. I believe that the 74 AMX with the Go Pac option could not be ordered with functional cowl induction as in previous years, do to the clean air act of 1974. There is a steel plate welded across the air inlet at the back of the hood preventing incoming air to the carburetor. There also is no duct work on the underside of the hood to direct the incoming air. The front under bumper spoiler was also not on the option list in 1974 but could be special ordered. All in all, a real nice looking Javelin AMX. I am the original owner of a1973 Javelin AMX. I ordered mine in March of 1973, it took 7 weeks to build and ship to the dealer. I ordered mine with the 401 Go Pac and 4-speed. Mine is Cordoba Brown with a gold, fade to black hood T stripe with all black vinyl interior. Options I ordered were, floor console, inside hood release, power steering, all tinted glass, light group, Motorola am/fm stereo radio and body side scuff molding. I had the dealer change out the factory 3.54 rear gears to a better 3.73 rear set. Also changed out the stock intake manifold to the much better large port, AMC Rebel Machine cast iron intake. The front sway bar was changed to a larger 1 in. dia. bar along with the addition of a 1/2 in. dia. rear sway bar. I noticed the gentleman's head lights he has installed, many years ago I installed a set of Cibie Z beams with the Quartz Iodine bulbs, very bright white light. Hi beams will shine 4,500 ft. while low beams are a friendly 600 ft. My Javelin AMX stickered at $4,371.90, of that the 401 Go Pac along with the functional cowl induction cost $476.25. Many buyers didn't want to spend the $476 extra for something they really didn't want or couldn't afford. If they only knew that the cowl induction worked so well, it really added another 18 to 20 horse to the 401's stated 255 horse. Sadly AMC only built 22,556 Javelins in 1974 of which only 4,980 were the AMX versions. AMC needed to sell 35,000 Javelins to make any kind of money on. They lost money on building the Javelin every year except 1968 and 69.

Phantom, Absolutely awesome comment highlighting the AMC cars that truly deserve recognition but often overlooked. I also wanted to take a moment to personally thank for taking the time to watching my videos, leaving a comment and for subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. My intention when creating these videos is to showcase not only the beautiful car but give the owner an opportunity to share their story, love and passion for their car. Thanks again Kevin.

Some channels are way underrated, like yours, so are some cars, like the AMC Javelin AMX featured here. It's always a pleasure to watch your videos, keep them coming!

65283Impala, that means so much to me. I personally do not believe in criticizing other cars or implying one is better than another. I completely agree with you so many cars that sadly are disappearing need to be given the chance to shine and hence my videos highlighting the beautiful cars and why their owner loves them.

Had a 71 SST same color, white interior. Paid 400 for it late 80s. That 401 was my intriduction to torque. Bone stock that was a burnout machine, could smoke em til 1 popped (and did) Couldnt get past the mustard orange/yellow but for the $ thought I scored.
