1974: Kareem vs Bill Walton (VERY RARE FOOTAGE)

This preseason game between the Milwaukee Bucks superstar Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and the Portland Trail Blazers rookie Bill Walton would take place on October 4, 1974.
P.S this would not only be Bill Walton’s first time matching up against Kareem, but this would also be Bill Walton’s first NBA game ever!

I think this also happened his rookie year. If not then, his 2nd season, but I think it was the rookie. Sunday afternoon game on CBS, Kareem scored 50 on him. I watched it that day. Bernie Fryer, seen in this video, became an NBA referee.

Bill was always a bit in awe of KAJ especially early in his career. Rightly so. Kareem is a legend! #RipCity

Walton was a better all around player than Kareem and nearly everyone else in his era. But Kareem managed to stay healthy, whereas Bill was a little self-destructive.
