Working on my 69 ghia. Found it in a scrap yard ready for the crusher. Doesn't run but very solid. Not my first vw so engine is minor problem 👍 hope to see you on the road!

Great job mate , but cant see indicators with lights on ? Beware of that i had to put my old indicators on as well so people could see em 👍🇬🇧

These early years did not have turn signals from the factory. My state does not require them if they did not come from the factory with them. Thanks!

What a fantastic job you did, I'll bet it sold really well.

Love the work you have done, the ghia looks fantastic. Mine is still running and looks presentable, too bad I can't post a pic of it. Again, fantastic job.

Thanks! I'll have another video soon of my restoration of a 1965 Honda Trail 90 (CT200). I used the same leftover paint I used on the Ghia.

Beautiful job on the body work. Still needs the nerf bars on the front, dispite they offer no real protection for that beautiful nose. Well done.

Nice work On vw ghia you wouldn’t happen to have a link to for the head lights you installed thank you

The LED lights I initially installed were garbage. You need to pay hundreds of dollars to get the nice ones if you want quality. I took them out and went with Hella instead. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001G72SKQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

After that, I bought amber led strips and wired them to the turn signals and adhered them to the inside of the bulb housing before inserting the halogen headlamps. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015H90NBO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Still think VW needs to make a Karmann Ghia retro based on the Beetle chassis. A poor mans Audi TT.

John, I have a 71 Ghia I’m working on and would like to know where you got the head lights. I want to get rid of the ugly turn signal lights also. Thanks

The headlights in the early pics ended up being a failure. I don't recommend them. I ended up switching to halogen lamps that are replaceable and I put an amber ed strip inside the glass and hooked them to the turn signals. Worked pretty good, although not exactly street legal.

What headlights did you use? Someone did this same style to my ghia but the lights have a little bulb inside the headlight that comes loose. Those look built much better.

At 15:42 you can see the latter headlights that I used. I'm sure it's not street legal, but it looks clean!

What is the name of the wheels?
@johnheywood9826 Жыл бұрын
All I remember is that they are an EMPI brand. If you search for EMPI wheels for 1974 ghia, you should find them.

Was hoping for a restoration, not a custom. Oh well, it does look better, but I hope you didn't throw the bumpers away.
