my brother had a 72' red pinto.. I rode in back on way to school because he didn't want me "cramping" his style... plus I used to wipe boogers underneath the front seat and he didn't find out for about a year.. and when he was working on it one day he noticed the ocean of boogers just under the front portion/on seat... which is why also I got relegated to the back :( ...

I had a '78 in blue. But, it had power steering and power breaks. No air, though and only an AM radio. Threw a rod at 130,000 miles. Rebuilt it and bored .030 over. It actually had some giddy up after that. Traded it on a new '86 F150. Miss that little car but it was time to go.

I know the pain. Had to sell this Pinto when I moved to California from Indiana. Was hard to let it go. Had been in my family for years and had less than 30,000 miles on it. But there was no way I was taking it with me, it would never have survived the trip. Hopefully someone else is enjoying it now. VT247

This was actually given to me by my grandmother. She wasn't ever going to drive it. No power accessories and a manual meant she wasn't able to safely operate it. They bought it for my grandfather when he became ill with only 29k miles on it. I would only drive it to car shows. While it wasn't a show quality piece as the paint was faded, it did draw a lot of attention. Loved that car. Couldn't bring it with me to California when we moved so I had to sell it. VT247

@Vacationtime2476 жыл бұрын
This car was sketchy. It was a slow 20-30 mph trip home once I got it running, only needed a new fuel pump. But the steering rag joint was almost non existent. That combined with the original bias ply tires. Plus, I'd heard about the dreaded rear end collision fireballs these were rumored to be. Even still, it was a really nice car that I got for free. Was sad to see it go, but couldn't keep it, moved to the redwood coast. VT247

They Pintos weren't bad cars for the day; cheap and very basic. It's true the Corolla and Datsun were probably better built than the Pinto, but I never had one problem with either Pinto I owned other than the clutch going out on the 71 after about 75,000 miles. The Chevy Vega was the car that was loaded with problems, especially with the engine and with rust.

Nice looking example of a pinto! You really should siphon out that old gas because it can gum up the motor and ruin it. Gasoline goes bad really quickly especially in modern gasoline with ethanol and modern additives. It has happened to people before, just thought I would warn you...
