I bought a 1979 Magnum XE in 1981 for $3,900 with 18K on it. It stickered for 10K new . It was cheap because Mopars at the time had horrible quality control and sucked gas like an 18 wheeler. Nightwatch Blue with tan vinyl top, tan leather interior. Power seats, A/C, tilt wheel, cruise amd a factory AM/FM 8 track. Around the same time, I also picked up a 1979 Cordoba 300 just as loaded. Exact same car except for the front clip and tail lamps but that is another story. Very luxurious car for sure. Not sure anyone one of them is worth over 30K. Not even the 300. This car has what I think is an aftermarket stripe and the headlamp covers are faded. I do not recall the original Chanti red paint being this bright, definitely a re-paint. None of XE's ever had fender flares. XE's were single exhaust, this one has duals. Only GT's got the duals. For that Money it should be a perfect original car. I can only imagine the horrors of what we can't see. Only the power brake booster behind the master cylinder shows what this car really is. My guess is this was a "flip it" quick fix. Don't just stay away, RUN AWAY!

The fender flairs and wheels indicate that it was a GT or unless like you say someone took an XE and put the GT flairs and wheels on it. I thought all the GT's came with the center console and floor shifter but I might be wrong about that. I had a '78 XE, new from the dealer that I was able to special order. Mine had a power sunroof, red landau vinyl top, red cloth and vinyl seats, center console, white exterior with red custom pinstripes on the sides. Sure wish I had that car today....

Well, there's one born every minute. I personally would never pay $32K for this. It does look cool, but I agree with you. 🐾🐕🐶

Mom had a 78 XE new 360 4bbl white blue top blue leather interior loaded had rear quater window louvers. She traded it in for a new Jeep cherokee in 1984. She dumped the Magnum because it was costing over 60 dollars a week in gas then in CALIFORNIA SoCal. I can just think what it would be now to drive that thing around lol. We both have Challenger's now She has a 2010 R/T in Inferno Red. I have a 2014 R/T Classic in Plum crazy Purple. Both the cars were bought new here in SoCal and both have had major problems.

Yeah a lot of people have $32k to piss away on this. Did you ever own one? I had a 79 XE GT model looked brand new in 2009' only had 47,000 miles on it had a 360 with something called electronic Lean burn they all had this non bypass type engine it was absolutely a nightmare to own. But only paid $ 2500 for it and sold it a few years later for what I paid for it

@@davidhibbs6989 Remember that lean burn system plauged those cars. Shop I used to work at got them in a lot for warranty work. Almost always that was the problem. Tough time for smogged out cars

Jay , I will have to say that for a one man show it is a great pleasure to see you work! I had a triple black 1976 Dodge Charger and it looked like a Cordoba and it was all luxury and leather everything and it was a great car. I bought it for 300 dollars in 1984 and the only thing that was a matter with it was the second owner who only had it for 3 days sold it to me because he thought it was blown up. All it needed was the timing set and a full tune up. I drove it for a couple of years, unfortunately i wrecked it and sold it to my friend for 300 and he put a fender on it and drove it for a good couple of years before he was hit in it. Thanks for sharing this and as always we enjoy the show.😊

I am pretty basically a General Motors guy. But I will have to admit I will say this would be cool to own just because they're probably pretty non-existent now rare to see one it's different out of everything that a lot of people collect. I'm sure someone out there will agree if you have the money it will be worth the purchase.

I was 13 back in 78 and I always thought these were awesome looking cars. I think the only reason I liked them was the headlight covers! I haven’t seen one in like 20 years. I live in an area with very little classic MoPar.

I remember at least one Magnum around my neighborhood as a kid; I think it was blue if am not mistaken. Don't know much more about it than that--no idea what engine, trim level etc., it might have been. We lived near the police station and I do recall a police officer or city employee had a white Cordoba-based '79 300 with the red and blue stripes. Used to park down the block pretty regularly. My dad's cousin owned a maroon '76 Cordoba 400 Lean Burn he bought new. Stout car, served him well until 1991 when he sold it and bought a Cougar, after decades of them being mainly a Chrysler family. He sold it to a local guy, and we still saw it running around for a couple more years after.

Cars like this can bring money now for the guys who maybe had one new or thier parents did. Nostalgia can bring $ Dont think the buyers of these get em cause they are in demand but maybe want a neat car already did the hot rod thing...little older and just want a nice car from a time in youth they dont wanna work on. Many oddball cars are popping up bringing $ as most popular makes are too far $$ outta reach so it drive up the price of cars that not too long ago nobody cared about. Was 10 when these came out, loved the way they looked. Never saw them around even then .Cordobas bigger brother

10.9 seconds to 60 mph however 1979 you expect 170 hp. Needless to say the 360 engine can be made to have considerably more hp. Should be able to get 350 hp from it if that’s what you want 😅
