1979 Johnson 6hp no spark, fixed? Part 4
Will a new coil fix the spark problem, or are we left scratching our heads?
Is this Motor worth it?

runs like a fine watch now, they all never ran glass smooth at lowish to mid range, theres a low an a high jet, only a low speed adjustment, if you adjust the low at or near idle thats about all you can do to smooth it up.

CDI ignitions are terrible to diagnose. It's a good thing you did not buy a trigger as well in search of The Issue. Speaking from experience 🥴

Find your self a junk 4-55hp 1977-84. Coils and power pac are all the same.

Did you find you got more kick out of the motor when you increase the spark. My old six horse Johnson like the one you have sitting on your other boat is having that issue. It just runs slow kind of sluggish.

There was certainly more kick with both plugs sparking. I decided to buy some new connector pins which may help as well. With your motor maybe drain the fuel bowl, might have debris, water in there.
