Zenyatta is a perfect example of an incredibly well-managed racehorse. Retired well past racing prime completely sound. Massive winner, but never over-raced. Trained to almost perfection with owners that would not allow a false (or potentially damaging) step. I understand she's a fantastic Mom and has always been a very friendly and kind animal. lekkki1 I'm so thankful that the Mosses didn't push her too hard or too fast.She's such a big girl,it would have been all too easy for her to break down.I saw Ruffian's fatal match race and couldn't bring myself to watch another real-time race until American Pharoah's stretch run in the Belmont.If only all racehorses-well,ANY horses!-could be so fortunate in their owners...

This is an awesome video. Thank you to whoever got this idea to share w/ everyone what it actually FEELS like to be on such a unique horse -- so tall, w/ beautiful lean neck, alert ears, w/ such a long stride, that she is able to come up from behind and overtake another talented race horse in full gallop, with no apparent increase in speed. I always wanted to breeze a race horse. Now I feel like I have ridden the best!

Mr. Shirreffs I just logged on to FB for the first time since getting home from Ky. I read what you wrote. I have said many times you are my hero. She's a powerhouse - at 3:50 listen especially after Smith says "ok you can turn me loose" - Zenyatta accelerating to begin the work sounds like a supersonic jet taking off. I think that Zenyatta is a legend, and no one will ever forget her, but she is not the greatest race horse in the world. She was amazing, and you can't deny that. I think that Zenyatta just gutted it out in the 09 Breeders Cup and really deserved the win and this year there was a few contributing factors to her loss: 1, she had a fairly bad trip. 2, she was racing in a tougher field. 3, Blame wanted that win. But at the end, Zanyatta was really gaining. I think she really proved herself that day

It is sad to me that people who act like horse lovers can't truly be them. I understand she is an athlete so she will have her critics, but... Zenyatta is a beautiful and magical animal that was trained well, trained right and loved... she was not treated as another racing machine. Appreciate her... we will not see her magnificence again for a long time and it is okay that you don't like her, but don't come and be hateful. Respect that she is great, win or lose... true beauty right here.

@lookingathis I agree, def. had the odds against her, but like you, I will always love her no matter what, she's amazing! So full of Spirit, Heart, Charm & Class! Horse's like her don't come along often, she's one in a million! I cant remember feeling this way about a horse since Secretariat, another amazing horse that made me smile just watching him when I was younger, but I still remember! Great memories of both will be with me forever!
