1981 Swedish Rally`

A first for Audi as they launch their Audi Quattro on to the WRC stage with Hannu Mikkola. A debut too for VTV, their first overseas report. Another good result for Ford Escorts as Ari Vatanen starts his champion year.

I went to watch this in a local cinema in 1982 where they projected the VHS onto the big screen. Everybody's jaw was on the floor.

I was surprised by 2 things. Firstly that the Opel did not do better. I thought it would be better balanced. Secondly, why would you bother to race a Porsche in the snow? ( Better off with a Volvo 240, and I mean that. ) Anyway thanks for posting this Swedish Rally. It was very interesting. Keep up the good work.
