This is a Motormouth review of the 1983 Porsche 911 SC. Some might remember this car was used in the famous Against All Odds car chase in California. This example was originally sold into Japan, them came to the United States and eventually here to Canada. It was sitting in storage for the past 5 years and after an extensive service has been sorted and is ready for another 4 years! This era of 911 came with a 3.0L engine with 201hp. Not earth shattering but a load of fun and now these cars have become collectable for those that can't make the stretch for a later model are-cooled 911.

Every ‘older’ Porsche owner has seen that Against all Odds scene a million times. Sadly... I always loved and wanted the Ferrari in that scene. I feel blessed to own my Carrera (‘87 Cab)... but that 308 was next level. After all... Magnum P.I. was my favourite show. But for the drive, maintenance and the value.... the Porsche always wins. “Porsche, there is no substitute”. Thanks for another great video to start the weekend!

What a fantastic example of a classic 80s 911. I really enjoy watching this series with all the different iterations of the Porsche 911 new and old. The air-cooled 911's are very very special cars that just keep getting better and better with age. Thank you for sharing Zack 👏

Keep 'em coming Zack! Could you believe that a friend bought a 2005 996 Turbo with 67k km for cheap? That was 2 weeks ago! The old man was asking 85k and I can't say how much he paid but it made all my friends go: what?!

There is no rear "glass" in the top. The rear window is plastic and should be unzipped when the top is lowered or it will eventually crack and is expensive to replace. A completely new factory top is $$$$$$. I am the original (and only) owner of a 1987 Carrera cabriolet with 57K kilometers (34K mi). A 911 will be expensive to maintain. Although the car is only 37 years old with extremely low mileage I recently spent over $5000 (CAD) to have the local PCA Porsche repair "guru" go over the car and fix all of the little things that needed attention after almost 40 years. Rebuild brake calipers (look up the price of new factory calipers) replace faulty electrical switches for passenger window and driver's seat, front hood and rear engine deck lid struts, oil/filter change, new plugs etc..etc..etc... The cost of a new factory turn signal switch (part only) was over $500 CAD. Luckily I have not had any major repairs. An engine or transmission repair/rebuild could run well into 5 figures. The upside is the car is currently valued and insured by Hagerty (category 2) for $103,000 (CAD) It pays to use factory replacement parts, retain all documentation and keep the car as original as possible to maintain a high value for potential resale.

No Man's Land (1987) with Charlie Sheen is the movie you want for an overload of 80s Porsche goodness.

The Japanese economy in 1980 's and 1990 's was favorable. For example Ferrari F40 and Mercedes Benz 500E. Half of the production number was exported to Japan. Porsche Turbo was also sold more than USA.

Funny how LHD was a big deal in Japan just like how RHD is here for JDM cars!

Beautiful classic and great overview, Zack. Does Andrea ever drive these classic vehicles you borrow, as I think she would love this one? Not sure if she drives standard, but if not perhaps you could teach her

What a beautiful car! Normally I would prefer a bright color but this looks so sharp in silver with the perfect set of wheels on it.

Thanks for sharing Zack! I wonder what it entails to put the Speedster double bubble cover for the top? It would really clean up the lines. Still a great looking cabriolet.
