Remember watching this game at age 13, missed the end of it bc I fell asleep (Plus I had school in the AM) R.I.P. Giff, Dandy Don, and Howard. MNF hasn't been the same

This game was the highlight of the Giants' 1983 season. Thank you for posting it here.

Yes 83 was a very bad, 2 steps backward season for the Giants who had been starting to turn the corner as a franchise. 2 huge things happened in the off season going into 84. George Young was THIS close to firing Parcells after a 3-12-1 awful rookie season but decided to bring him back & Parcells decided to go w Phil Simms as his QB.
@bigdrew5653 жыл бұрын
@@rustykuntz94 yeah according to the Parcells biography, not only did Howard Schellenberger not take the job, supposedly he called Parcells and told him that George Young had just interviewed him for his job. Which lead to him calling Al Davis, who told Jimmy the Greek, who blew up the spot on the NFL Today. George Young hated Parcells after that(pretty sure that the feeling was mutual). To the point where when they were talking about bringing Parcells back to coach after firing Dan Reeves,, Young was going to retire rather than deal with Parcells.

@@danieltilson4912 yeah. But I don't think he was that great as a gm though. He got lucky with Curtis Martin in New England. Don't even get me started about Miami.

Tom Coughlin did more with less with his Giants championship teams in my opinion Parcells had the best defense in the NFL for years

1983 was an awful season! I started watching The Giants in 1984. Was 8 years old. I missed the awful teams of the late 64-83 (my father lived those awful Giants seasons). I was spoiled from 1984-2011. Now, I guess it’s time for me to suffer horrible Giants teams (2013-2020) as my father did in the 70’s. Have no fear though, I have a 3 year old son. When he’s 8, in 2025, The Giants will go on a great run again lol.

You missed 1973, lol…2-11-1 after going 6-0 in the preseason. Lots of hope that year after going 8-6 in 1972. They broke my heart. I was 13 almost 14. I loved the Giants that summer, I had a scrapbook with almost every daily article on the preseason cut out of the newspapers like the NY Post, the Star ledger, etc. I played Freshman Football that season of 1973 as well. We started out 2-0, and were the talk of the athletic department. Then we lost our next 7 games to finish 2-7. Our coach hated us, threw tantrums, punished us to pieces every day. It still haunts me to this day. LOL

It seemed that simms from when you could see a sideline shot stayed as far away from parcells and looked really pissed that he was not in there.i did not agree that Brunner should be starting over him . I simms didnt get hurt again I have a feeling that Brunner would be sitting for the rest of the 83 season
