The buzzer sounds like a 1999-2000 chevy express van buzzer

I know this is an old Video, but others can still use it for a reference. What I noticed: 1) Car was CCC, but not CCC anymore. Engine Harness appears to be re-wired. 2)Ignition timing should be set to 6* or 8* advanced. 3) Carburetor is not tuned right. It needs to be vacuum gauged when you tune it. Since you have an after market cam. You will have 15hg to 17hg at best. Not much vacuum for your brake booster, but it will work. Good Luck to all who are having similar issues.

That old edelbrock carburetor was shot all the way around when I shot this video, the choke didn't work correctly no matter what it was so worn out lol. I eventually rebuilt a quadrajet I already had laying around and it's still working great. The wiring is undoubtedly an absolute mess in it.

To be honest...I have a 1992 Camaro RS that I Just re-wired to except an 87 Monte Carlo SS CCC and Rochester Q-Jet 4barrel off an 1986 Caprice. My engine is a 1999 chevy 350 mild cam. I was having similar issues, and still have a few gremlins that I'm currently working on. I'm just very appreciative that you posted this Video as a informative lesson to all.

Yeah I love this car, I chased after this thing for years before I finally got my hands on it. I have been planning on putting an LS series engine in it, like a 5.3 or a 6.0; maybe if I ever have plenty of money to spend I'll put an LS3 in it haha

is it based off of the ls and I was thinking of filming my car and the work to come but was trying to wait till I purchase a doner car

I know what you mean. I need to find a parts car somewhere myself, I find them a lot on local sales network, but they're usually either too nice to sacrifice for a parts car or too rough to have any of the parts I need haha.

nice car but what happened to the A/C?? cool car though!! sounds good to me
@CrazyWoody19898 жыл бұрын
Christopher Abnett It was gone out of it when I got it, I'm guessing they left it off when they put the motor in it. I'm not to upset because it would all have to have been redone to convert it to R134 refrigerant from R12 anyway haha

my car is pretty rough, it came with a 350 turbo trans and that's it..it needs same body work and to be honest i want to buy a 87 aerocoupe my brother has one and my father had one...i just cant see my self saleing my 84 ive learned to love it and aren't shore if it would be worth puting the car back original or totally go left wing and custom everything
@CrazyWoody198911 жыл бұрын
If it's pretty rough then you should build however you would like it to be because it would be almost impossible to keep original anyway. So it would be a good platform to use your imagination and custom build it how you like. I know what you mean about never wanting to get rid of it. My uncle had mine and I had been chasing after it for about 10 years before I finally got my hands on it haha.
@CrazyWoody198911 жыл бұрын
Mine also had a TH350 transmission in it when I bought it, but someone in the past had put a 3.42 ring and pinion in it and it sucked driving on the highway so I went and got a 2004R out of an Oldsmobile Delta 88 and had it rebuilt, all I had to do to get it to fit was shorten the cross member from the Olds down about 6 inches, the Monte Carlo already had holes it bolted into and everything, and the original drive shaft fit right in, and the cooling lines had to be bent just slightly.

Did you know you can adjust the spring tension on the choke on an edlbrock to make it Rev down
@CrazyWoody19898 жыл бұрын
+Beaumont Chevelle I tried to adjust it some but it was so worn out that it wasn't doing a whole lot of good. I finally rebuily a Q jet and put back on it and it has ran perfect ever since haha

the lt1 comes back in 2014 I think, why haven't you post any more videos on your montecarlo?
@CrazyWoody198911 жыл бұрын
They are coming out with a new motor called the LT1 but it's not exactly the same as far as I know. And I really just hadn't got around to putting any up until recently. Mostly just me being lazy haha. There will definitely be more up in the future though.

I have one just like that I want to restore it but cant deside if I want to keep the bench seat or night ...do you have any ideas for me
@CrazyWoody198911 жыл бұрын
At one time I was thinking about putting a t56 in mine, which would require me to put in bucket seats and a console and all that jazz. I finally decided I didn't want to hack it up since the seat is nice in it and leave it like it is. But if the seat in yours is kind of rough, it would really be just about as easy to just put some bucket seats and a middle console in. It could be a little hard to find one that is blue though if yours has blue and white interior in it, as far as I know 83' and 84' were the only two years they made the SS's with blue and white.
@CrazyWoody198911 жыл бұрын
Although I do like the bench seat, one thing that sucks about it is that it's a solid seat and not a 60/40 seat or anything so if one person wants to be closer or further away from the dash then both people have to be. It also kind of makes it a pain to adjust the seat with just one person in the car.
@dieselout1811 жыл бұрын
is the ls3 a good motor I drove a 1999 camero with a ls1 and I liked it but it seems the lt1 in my 94 was little faster
@CrazyWoody198911 жыл бұрын
Yeah the LS3 is a great motor. All the LS series engines are good as far as how reliable and tough they are. And they all make good power, and are easily tuned. The LT1 was a good motor as well, but was short lived, with a few drawbacks. They made damn good power, but they were a one of a kind motor, no other gm small block parts will fit on them. The thing I hated about the LT1's was the optispark ignition, with the distributor right behind the water pump. It definitely made them a hassle to work on.
@dieselout1811 жыл бұрын
how much will it cost,,i was think about a big block but I found a 400 block for cheap so and I saw a lsx 454 small block for 12k
@CrazyWoody198911 жыл бұрын
It all depends on what you are looking for. I was actually thinking of an lsx 376 for my car, which is basically a gen III LS3, just an iron block with aluminum heads instead of being all aluminum. And the sensor locations are different. The one I was looking at is about 5,500 bucks.

I'd say the issue is with the carb, either tuning or an internal issue as far as it running weird when it's warming up!
@CrazyWoody19898 жыл бұрын
+Kevin Gaston Yeah the choke didn't work right. I think it also may have had a vacuum leak haha
@kevgregrob28 жыл бұрын
Haha yeah, that will do it! I know my old bronco did that for a while before I fixed the vacuum leaks and tuned the carb lol
@CrazyWoody19898 жыл бұрын
+Kevin Gaston I eventually took the Edelbrock off and rebuilt a Quadrajet and put back on it, haven't had any trouble since haha

+Stuart Woody it was an Edelbrock? Go figure then!
@CrazyWoody19898 жыл бұрын
+Kevin Gaston Yeah! The choke was completely worn out by the time I made this video and it was like a year or more after that when I finally changed the carburetor haha

Most of those old cars are screwed over on wiring.
@CrazyWoody19896 жыл бұрын
No doubt! At some point I'd absolutely love to do an LS swap on this car just to give it better day to day drivability, and when I do I am going to put in a complete new wiring harness. I don't care if it's expensive either, the wiring in this car is completely shot and was when I bought it like 8 years ago lol

i always wanted to build a super car a car if i was running from same one from here to mexico could not be stopped and i saw same pro touring cars that rev to 8k rpm. do you build engines?
@CrazyWoody198911 жыл бұрын
I have built a couple but nothing particularly special. I like the idea of having a fairly mild cammed engine that's good for the street but have high revving capabilities. Which is one reason I like the idea of the LS series GM engines, they make some pretty brutal performance. Even the smallest LS series, the 4.8 liter makes almost 300 horsepower. They also have a huge assortment of crate engines, you can get any kind of package you want. I have been wanting to put an LS3 in the Monte Carlo, right out of the box stock they make 430 horsepower and will rev to the moon haha.

ya my car and inter are the same as yours blue and white bench seat with ss on both head rest . if I was going to restore the car could anyone tell what seats came in the car, the only thing im doing is building a 400 small block for it. I bought the car with no engine but I would like it to be a sleeper orginal out side. I could buy and recover same bucket seats but would it take away from the car and the the car is white if I painted the gray blue same 83-84 came could it take away from the value
@CrazyWoody198911 жыл бұрын
As far as keeping it original, I would definitely keep the bench seat in it, but you could also get a set of buckets out of a floor shifted SS and have them recovered. It was an option in 83' and 84'. From what I have seen about half of them were column shifted with bench seats and half with consoles and buckets. The blue grey color from 83' and 84' wouldn't take away from the value I don't think. I had thought about painting mine blue at one time as well, but I finally decided to leave it white when I finally restore it. Having original drive train is one of the things that keeps up the value, but since yours didn't have a motor it shouldn't really matter. Like mine doesn't have the original motor, I want to keep mine stock looking as well and put LS power in it eventually. Mine actually doesn't have a lot of original parts, it's got a different 305 H.O. and I put a 2004R overdrive in it, and the rear end is out of an Oldsmobile haha.

I cant find any true montecarlo ss parts or parts cars in Clarksville, and the cars for sale they want top dollar. theres a guy that has a 85 for sale black and red but rusted to hell and wants $4500. that's a lot of money for a 80s car that's a doesn't run and needs body work
@CrazyWoody198911 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean, I was thinking of buying a regular Monte Carlo for parts, and buying any SS piece I need new from a catalog. I have found a few pretty decent parts cars, I found an 87' not long ago for 500, but it didn't have a front clip on it haha.
@davidsim9611 жыл бұрын
really monte carlos are dirt cheap around here(Rhode Island) you see SS's all the time for under 3500
@CrazyWoody198910 жыл бұрын
David Simula I find them a lot for under 3500, but I don't consider it to be dirt cheap until it hits the 1000 dollars or less range hahaha. I'm cheap like that.
