I really enjoy your channel! I have an 82 full size square body, and I remember that there was a weak area in the frame just past the firewalls heading towards the motor... so might suggest plating the inside of the frame especially now that you have the fox coil over hoops that will add torsional flex on the frame and maybe a shock tower bar that bolts shock tower to shock tower so that stress is shared with the other frame rail.... Just my .02 $ I'm really excited about this build.
@SalvagetoSavage2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the heads up! We'll definitely look into that once we pull the cab off!
@Michael666CA2 жыл бұрын
Weak point at the steering box for sure, and with that caliber of suspension, axles and tires I would 100% box the frame, and there is complete kits.
@garyvincent96632 жыл бұрын
Looks great ... But you need to box in the frame. The leverage of the four link combined with the added weight of the big Tires and suspension will rip the frame apart. Those frames are prone to crack around the steering box with stock setup.
@SalvagetoSavage2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the heads up!

PRO TIP: When I cut my rods, I set up my ends with only 1/3 thread showing. The reason is this: I am OK with turning the rods in so only 1 thread is showing, but I am not OK with turning the rods out with only 1 thread engaging. I consider the last 1/3 of the threads to be ESSENTIAL and so only 2/3 of the threads are used for adjusting the bar length. Good luck with the build.
@Mike-qp8bv2 жыл бұрын
That is really good advice for someone not familiar with heim joints. I've found that the initial setup is usually fairly decent. After measuring multiple times, have the pinion angle relatively close. I generally to get each component as close as possible before cutting and welding link bars. Tape measures are your friend. In my case, it's more of a love hate relationship.

Sweet build, but I am curious about the link setup as it seemed to me that your links are too close vertically on the axle, everything I have seen for parallel 4 links and 3 links is you want 1/4 of the tire size between (so 10 inch minimum of separation for a 40 inch tire) this has been the word in the off-road jeep world where I am from, I also don’t know what size tires is planned for the build. Not saying you guys are wrong I just noticed it and it made me think, after all you are the pros and it is one badass build.

@SalvagetoSavage2 жыл бұрын
You wouldn't use a wrench to adjust the actual bar. You'd use it to loosen the nut locking it in place, then spin the bar by hand from the center to make your adjustment
@barnbuiltbeaters2 жыл бұрын
This may be a dumb question, but how do you figure out what the ride height is prior to letting the weight of the vehicle down to load the suspension?
@SalvagetoSavage2 жыл бұрын
We fabricated everything based off of the highest and lowest points of suspension travel so we know we won't overextend our shocks or blow them out slamming them too low. We'll be able to adjust the ride height slightly by adjusting our coil overs, but we're trusting in the lift manufacturers guidelines for most of the ride height. Since we're following the shock angles and tube positions they've laid out, we're pretty certain it will give us the right amount of lift!

Since when does the LT4 have port fuel injection? Is it a Holley kit? The LT5 has both direct and port injection. ORD also makes a kit for lower lifts that has the 4-link frame upper attachment points offset to the side of the frame so the link can cycle past the bottom of the frame. The upper links include an offset bend to realign to the attachment points on the axle.
@JoeZelensky2 жыл бұрын
If I was the customer I would have went with a VW V10 TDI engine with a manual trans and AWD. I would also not bother with the fancy lift kit and went with old school leaf springs which are much stronger.

I have an 1986 GMC 👀 how did he get these awesome people to work on his truck ,$????
@johngraves92012 жыл бұрын
I’m concerned with the fact that the trac bar was measured at full bump. That means the axle will not be centered at ride height and even more so at full droop. Trac bar length should be determined at ride height so there is equal amounts of movement during suspension cycling.
