1986 Chevy K10 Squarebody Silverado bed removed - chassis frame prep and paint

Chevy, Squarebody, K10, Bed removal, prep and paint frame, fuel tank

We're building out this 1986 Chevy K10, but first, we have to take care of some of the functional stuff. First off was the leaky fuel tank, so we removed the bed to access the tank.
With the bed off we decided to go ahead and remove any rust, sand the frame, and give it a good chassis paint and topcoat. This should protect it from rust for years to come.

Thanks for the upload.....but I can tell you are not from up north. Besides the accent you say "Rust in the south is bad".....two words for you "Road Salt" in Michigan those frames literally evaporate after a few winters.

Nope, not from up North. The South doesn't have too much rust, certainly not like the East Coast North. However, I lived on the coast and the salt air would very quickly rust any bare metal. Thanks for watching the video!

I appreciate your questing and checking out my video! If you pay to have it done, I'm not sure. Cost me some elbow grease, a few tools, and 1Qt of Chassis Saver paint from Magnetic Paint co. Removing the bed took the most amount of time as I had a few bolts I had to cut off and get the bed removed by myself. Once the bed was off, the job took me about a day to prep and paint.

Hi there and thanks for the question and for watching the video! I used Chassis Saver rust preventative paint from Magnet Paint Co. It was #970 Antique-Satin Black. Only used 1 qt for the job in the video

Weld a nut to them and hold them in place with a wrench.

I had a few that spun on me too. I ended up taking a small cutter and just cutting them off. Easy enough and not too costly to order a few new ones
