Yup, the Helix can be a lot of fun and the engins seem to be bullet proof....the Vanagon may be a camper for next summer.....I hope..Thanks for watching.

I got a 86 and mine just randomly shut down the other day and I can’t get it back started , I’ve got apart, fuel, and compression so idk why it won’t start cause it should, any idea where to start??

Yup, I take the Helix to the local Harley shop for the yearly inspection MVI, I had an old bad looking Apple Auto Glass keychain and they felt that I needed an upgrade.... I was able to source a new coil on Ebay, but the spark plug cap was the problem. check the continuity on the spark plug cap then check if there is a spark.

Would you recommend the Honda Helix in 2022? I see some 2004-2006 models on the used market near me. Is this a good bike for someone learning to DIY for service/maintenance? Is parts availability still easy? Or is it hard to find replacement parts for these bikes? Thanks in advance!

Yup, they are a nice bike, with the 250cc motor there is lots of power to ride all day at 90 to 100 kph...up here in Canada... I replaced the coil and drive belt and had no trouble finding the parts, the belt came from the local Harley dealer and the coil was from Ebay....try to find one with low milage, I bought mine from a friend and he bought it in 1986....

@@LorneKelly Thanks for reply. How tall are you? That is my other concern. I am 6’2”. The one I am looking at has 15,000 miles and was kept indoors in a dry state. So no rust either.

@@motonoia Yup, I am 5'9" there is lots of room for me and a passenger...6'2" means that its easier to see over the top of the windshield....

back tire builds up heat, flat tire plugs dont seal 100% most of time. road side assistant is a must . tow trucks not equipped to strap down scooters. aaa has added new program for scooters. you get a smoother ride if you have a light load on bike. clutch kits , tires and yes bearings are some of the over head repairs you will find in short term and long term. aftermarket clutch pack with pulleys with bearings inside it. 100 bucks any where you look.
