1986 Kawasaki ZL 600 Review

After owning this bike for 2 years, I'm telling the pros and cons. Great bike, small tank but super fun to ride on. Highly recommend :) It has an inline 4 engine, super strong, very reliable.

***I found out the baffles had been removed from the exhaust and that's why my bike was so loud.
I no longer own this bike. Sold it to someone in the Bay Area.

I have the 1987 model. Love it love it love it!!!! Amazing ride, very responsive on corners. I wish they would bring it back.

You are so lucky to own one. I really miss mine. I have a '94 honda Nighthawk now and although it is a very reliable bike, it's just not as fun, b/c it doesn't have that lower gear power and of course the exhaust growl.

Thank you. Honda is more reliable and feels harder than Kawasaki. I had the '96 shadow few years ago. My favorite thing about it was the riding position. Honda know how to do it right

The ZL 600 is one of my favorite bikes I’ve ever ridden. It’s power is amazing. I test rode a CBR 500 after owning the ZL 600 and it didn’t even compare to the ZL. Anyone who gets to own one is a lucky person.

@@motogirlz101 I got the carbs rebuilt and will fire up but won’t stay running. I think it may be a vacuum issue I don’t know the proper hose locations. Definitely a fuel issue because it revs out good on starting fluid.

Love Kawasaki 4bangers. Wish I could have seen this one with a rider on it, so as to gauge the stance. Nice bike!

It is a low to the ground bike, great for shorter riders.

Hey I think I have YOUR bike, like this is the same exact one. I noticed the rust on the tank and i looked back at a pic of my bike and it’s in the exact same spot! Also the location of the license plate is in the same exact place as mine!!

the sound... ive had faster bikes....but none that "sounded" faster...like an f1 car revving in the pole position..

I had a 1986 one, it had 5 gears does yours? I was told the early ones had a GPZ 600 tuned engine too!

I feel like this one had 6 gears, but it could've been 5. It's been 4 years since I've owned it. The engine was really sweet. My '86 ran flawlessly. Miss that bike but I'm glad I passed it on to someone else to learn to ride.

Did you paint any of the parts on yours? Thinking about painting some of the chrome and metal pieces on mine like the guage pods, mirrors, that weird kidney bean shaped trim right next to the carbs etc.

The PO painted the plastic side trim that says ZL600 black. What color are you going to paint it?

So so fast . I used to own one a 1997 . I love the power but I feel so unsafe on the freeway because I feel like twisting on the curves so scary

My exhaust was the stock one with the baffles out. So if you remove the baffles, it will be super loud.
