Yeah, great worklight! I had an idea to make my own one day but I haven't got around to it.

My dad had a good point, I was going to buy a used 4.0L for my Jeep, but he said that if I was going to do it, do it right, and rebuild the one I had. You're just buying someone else's problems. It was worth the money because it's practically a brand new engine now, and let me tell you, it sure drives like it.

I'd trust a used genuine Toyota engine more than this remanufactured engine with Chinese parts, especially after I just band-aid it back together. Plus I need this truck to get to school, not much chance I can rebuild it in a weekend.

love your videos they have saved my truck numerous times

Hello Alex Man any updates on your Runner. I bought a rebuilt motor for my 88 4 Runner 3VZE with a Life time warranty with some mild performance mods. This was the best decision I made on my truck. I hope you got it worked out Your videos are awesome.

This little series is exactly 7 days time-delayed. This whole process happened over Labor Day weekend. You'll see an update video tomorrow.

Hey your pretty good at these. Thanks for the help. Where do you get your parts from?

Most of what I buy can be found on LCE, TrailGear, 22RE Performance, ToyoMotorParts, or Craigslist.

for me, cylinder 3 isnt firing, atleast i dont think it is, motor shakes and vibrates a lot so i removed my spark plug wires one by one and found that cylinder 3 does nothing to the idle. also did a compression test and it has around 140psi on cyl 3. what do you think can be my problem alex?

Alex Man What did you end up doing with this motor? Did you rebuild it?
@TheAlexManVideos8 жыл бұрын
+Joe Jodee I parted this engine out over time. To get back on the road I bought a used engine off Craigslist and dropped it in. It's newer/lower miles and not rebuilt. Been happy with it. I was in a hurry though because it was my only vehicle at the time so no video.

What causes a piston ring to fall apart like that? ..jc
Boy that is not good !! Hope you can find a good used engine man ..
@bjorndethij10 жыл бұрын
Just put new rings in and leave the rest.

I would prefer truck that is actually reliable.

TheAlexManVideos Hahahahaha awesome response to that. I'd have to recommend a 22reperformance head if you ever get around to rebuilding it all. Best power gain you can buy. Im having to drive my 86 4 hours back and forth to school and wouldnt have it any other way. Rather drive this 30 year old loud, hoopdy than anything

definitely not an Aisin piston. looks like some chinese knockoff.
@TheAlexManVideos10 жыл бұрын
Yep. You're correct. This was a remanufactured engine rebuilt with Chinese components. I already had to replace the crappy head gasket and cracked head two years ago. Now this. Needless to say I'm much more confident in the genuine Toyota engine with 145,000 miles than I am with the 50,000 mile engine that broke.
@tomgholini110910 жыл бұрын
TheAlexManVideos If your in a strict time frame, consider buying a craigslist motor and use the genuine Toyota gaskets to seal the motor. Some new seals, steel guides and you'll be set.

TheAlexManVideos Well the Chinese don't like the Japanese, that's why it broke. Just kidding...;-)
