This is a race I've been looking for forever! I remember recording it live back in the day, could never find it again for some reason..... Thank you.

I love seeing the old races but the 1988 season is probably my absolute favorite to revisit. It is wonderful to see more of the old races in such good quality. I'm not sure why folks keep asking to see races in the 2000's on NASCAR classics. Those races are easily available in a variety of different way. However, If NASCAR Classics did not post the restored full races from prior to the 1990's, we either would not have the race at all or would not have a clean version to watch. This race at Dover and the last race posted from North Wilksboro are perfect examples- There were existing versions already posted but the audio and video were not nearly this clean. Thank you to the folks who post these races; I do not have any races to request as I will take what I can get (especially for free). I will say that if you guys ever decided to post more Busch races, particularly from Rob Moroso's championship season in 1989, I would be overjoyed because there are several televised races from that season that have not been posted by anybody, anywhere, including the last race where Moroso clinched the championship. This is not a request or demand, just an observation. thank you again to the folks who make watching clean versions of these old races possible.

Races like this one and that year's Southern 500, which happened two weeks earlier, may have been a big reason why Bill Elliott, and not Rusty Wallace wound up as that year's champion. Within the span of three races, Elliott, Wallace, and Dale Earnhardt, who were 1-2-3 in the championship standings, finished in the top three spots in those races, but Elliott won both times. And amazingly, not only did those three finish 1-2-3 in both races, but they finished 1-2-3 in the exact order they were in the point standings entering that particular race. entering that year's Southern 500, the order of the 3 in the points were Elliott-Wallace-Earnhardt, and that's exactly how they finished in that race (the only time that's ever happened in the Southern 500), and the top 3 in the points entering this race were Elliott-Earnhardt-Wallace, and again, they finished 1-2-3 in precisely that order. Elliott asked in victory lane about whether he could have gotten any luckier than when he blew a tire just after a caution had come out. He'd get his answer to that in March of 1992 at Atlanta, when, battling an ill-handling car all day, he stretched his fuel a couple of laps later than everyone else during late round of green flag pit stops, caught a lucky caution, wound up a lap ahead of the field, and practically coasted to victory, despite having about the 10th-12th best car.

2:33:54 I think Earnhardt is a bit out of his pit stall, that'd be a definite penalty today.

What a difference a decade makes..... Elliott (along with Earnhardt) dominated in the 1980s. Elliott stopped being a consistent competitor in the early 90s, even though he won a few races in the 2000s, as Dale Senior won 4 more Cup Titles in the 1990s.

IMHO the 2008 Brickyard was a terrible race to watch, with 10 laps at a time for green flag runs. However, if you really want to watch it, this race is already posted on youtube, in acceptable quality, in its entirity, just like every other race from the 2000's, including Robby Gordon's win at 2004 Richmond Busch race, which I think was the last major NASCAR race that was missing from youtube. Even Cup races from the 1980s and before often are not posted at all or are posted but not in very good quality or are missing much of the race. I am also guessing they are still posting in chronological order so it may be a while before they get to the 2000's, if they decide to do it at all. Re-posting the races from the 2000's seems kind of pointless to me because they are already there but you are entitled to your opinion. Regardless of either of our opinions, we are not entitled to anything; I am just glad to see these races posted at all.

Let it be known that I am extremely glad they are still posting races from the 1980's. A lot of folks have never seen these races and therfore do not know how Epic the drivers and races were during this timeframe. One last comment- this channel is called NASCAR Classics- that race was not a classic at all, under any definition of that word. If you think so, that is your opinion but I think you would be wrong and I highly suggest watching more of these races from the 1980's so that you might hopefully reevalute what constitutes a classic race. I hate to sound rude and this is not a personal attack at all, but I have seen this comment about the 2008 Brickyard on every single race that has been posted and I personally thought that was rude. If this original comment was AI generated, my apologies to all for taking the bait and getting duped by a sock puppet account.
