Smh why would u take off the belt unhook/pull out the fan shroud when u can just loosen the bolts from the water pump pully and loose the bolts from the fan shroud lift it just enough to pull out the fan.... and another thing if you have to replace the fan u might as well replace the fan clutch as well save your self from another problem

hey i know this video is old but it helped alot but im stuck after i got the 4 bolts off. the fan still wont come off. now i see theres another 4 bolts on the fan its self right next to the 4 i just pulled off do i take all 8 off then i can take the fan off? also my car is a 1993 ford explorer 4x4 5 speed transmission. again i relize this video is old but still alot of this really helped getting some of the stuff off thanks

It's an aftermarket radiator, I don't recall the brand but it's an all aluminum two core.

Question: We got a 86 Ford LTD Wagon with a 5.0 in it, which we had to convert back to stock, as the dual fan aluminum radiator was not working out due to severe electrolysis. We got this fan assy, but it seems to be the wrong one for our 5.0 motor. What is the direction of rotation for the motor in this video ?? Is it clockwise when viewing from the front bumper - or is it counter clockwise ?? Our 5.0 is clockwise when viewed from the front bumper, and the fan seems to be pushing air towards the front bumper. Note: there is no shroud on at this time - we're still waiting for one to be built for us, so swapping the fan out is no big deal. Does anyone know if Mustangs turn counter clockwise ?? I believe the serpentine belt Mustangs do, while the V belt ones don't. This LTD has a serpentine belt, but turns clockwise. when viewed from the front. Any help is appreciated.

The fan clutch will wear out and not engage fully, which means it will not cool down the radiator as much as needed. It can be hard to diagnose a failed fan clutch on your own and a technician may be required. If you are referring to the plastic fan blade, then that will eventually get cracks in it, and that would be why you replace that.

@@APDTY sorry I was asking about the adapter plate that comes with the fan, I decided to keep my electric fans. I was going to swap it back to the clutch fan but I found out all I needed was a new relay.

Since you went to all that trouble to replace the old fan, you should have just gone ahead and replaced the fan clutch as well since that is also a wear item.

ive done this many times cause i have a couple of mustangs, may i add that its a good idea NOT to loosen up the fan shroud till you have almost all the bolts of the fan blade off, reason for this is so it wont be flapping against your arm, its already a pita as it is and a very limited space to work in so lets not make it worse,lol, also i found out ratchet wrenches are a godsend when taking the fan blade off,just my two cents.
