And we were all climbing the damn walls and pulling our hair out as the Niners drove down the field with Young in the game. Then we heard "And the Giants have the ball" and saw Taylor prancing around with he ball. That whole 4th Quarter may be the most nail-biting white-knuckling quarter of Giants football I've ever seen. It beats anything in the Giants SB games, IMHO. And respect to the Niners for being just as hard-hitting as the Giants in this game. It's a shame someone had to lose.

What a game. I completely forgot that Bahr missed that one field goal and that Carthon dropped that easy touchdown pass on the halfback option play. Two plays were seared into my memory for life though: Montana getting wrecked by Marshall and of course Craig's fumble recovered by L.T. What's crazy about the NFL pre free agency is how many great players the top teams had. The 49ers had Steve Young as their backup QB. The Giants had 7 pro bowlers. The last amazing point about this game is look at the Giants coaching staff. Parcells (HC), Belichick (DC), Coughlin (WR). Three HOF coaches on one staff. Hell, Charlie Weis was the G-Men's assistant special teams coach.

With those losses to the Bills, Phil Simms out for the year and their last two wins were against last place teams like the Cardinals and Patriots were very lack luster victories. Then to get to the Super Bowl with a back up QB and back up running back against the back to back champion 49ers. Just slogging it out and getting that Craig fumble because one more first down and the game was over. Then to play against a superior then Bills team with the game plan of time of possession and then on defense just having 2 down lineman to protect against any catches and run after the catch.
