I just finished restoring a 91 4x10. My PRRI is up for sale and I won’t miss it. It’s also dethroned a 63 VVRI, Fargen, and others. It’s everything I love about voxes, Marshall’s, and fenders all rolled into one amp. If I had to describe the tone, I’d say an appropriate name would be Brownface AC Superlead Reverb.

I've got the 4x10 version and the head. Both from the first production years in the mid 90's. Most reliable amps I've ever had and sounds that range from (almost) Fender cleans to Marshall dirt. The reverb was livable but the overall value and dependability were unmatched in the 90's. Great studio and touring amps.

I had one of these, and later on, I had a 30-Watt, 1x15 Peavey Delta Blues (very similar amp). They never, ever let me down. Definitely the most consistently good sounding amps I've owned. I forgot that this was an amp demo for a while there. I was enjoying your playing ... I loved the old 70s Classic 50 back when it came out. Our lead guitarist almost bought one; but while the drive sounds were beautiful, the clean tone broke up too early for him to use. No mic'ing of amps back then, not for small gigs. He went with a 100W Master Volume Marshall instead (can't remember if he bought a Master Vol or had his old one modded). Brasher tone but still plenty of power /headroom for cleans.

I think I paid $350 brand new at Clark's in ATL. Same day I bought that I played a brownface Vibroverb reissue in the store for an hour or so - wish I'd bought one of those at the same time, it's still one of my favorite clean tones and they didn't sell many, almost impossible to find on the used market...Classic 50s, otoh, are all over the used market.

The Peavey Classic series is such a weird beast.
