Vestion the green and yellow arrow looking thing on the back of the car. It’s a “Wakaba” leaf, meant to be worn on the vehicle of a first year driver. Cars displaying this mean that the driver is new, thus inexperienced, and so other drivers may pay more attention to a high risk individual, and possibly even have more patience. If someone cuts you off, your first impressing is that they’re a reckless inconsiderate asshole. But if you knew that they’re driving around with a paper license because they’re THAT new, you may be a little bit more understanding. They’re not an asshole, for now, at least, they’re just ignorant. In the US though, people into the JDM scene sometimes like to display this leaf, regardless of how many years they’ve been behind the wheel. When my brother turned 16, I got him one for his Acura, because I wanted to get him something for his car. I don’t think he ever displayed it.

This review is incredibly accurate. The Beat is a great backroad car that is tons of fun even though you aren't going very fast. I've had a Beat and a Cappuccino, and they are both great but very different to drive. The Beat is better handling (though mine also had coilovers, where my Cappo does not), and the Beat sounds better...but the Cap has a hard top, more configurations, is much quicker in a straight line (still not fast), is a better highway cruiser and is more practical (with the roof up). It's hard to say which I like better.
@kevina20525 жыл бұрын

My daily is an NA Miata (93), And I am dead set convinced that it is the best car in the world because of its light weight, low GC, and tiny engine. It is an auto so that 1.6 liter inline 4 has very little options for gears at high speed, and even with the torque converter locked in overdrive, it turns around 3000 rpm at highway speeds. That noise, combined with the wind, is all consuming, almost drowning out the radio. I would never drive it more than 10 seconds at 5,500 rpm, much less CRUISE there. That little inline 3 is also sitting right behind you, whirring away for hours. Bravo to anyone who road trips in this car.

Gran Turismo is the reason why I want a Beat; it’s the same reason why some people want a 1st or 2nd Dodge Viper or Impreza Wagon. I just thought it was so silly that a puny slow car also happened to me mid engined, and could compete against MR2s and NSXs in mid engine competitions, with no chance of victory. But I love it anyway and I try. With a max tune and racing tires, I was able to win the endurance race at Grand Valley in GT5 with a Beat.
@tetu3105 жыл бұрын
MTREC E07A engines were exclusively available on two kei-cars, Beat and Today (An econobox of the same era, but only on sport-oriented trim). E07A itself was seen on almost every Honda Kei-cars/trucks/vans at the time. MTREC on Beat was making 64 PS according to Honda, which was hitting the kei-car voluntary restraint output limitation, and no other kei-car since then achieved similar output with NA engine. On Today it was detuned to 58 PS, but some people prefer the Today’s body since they are lighter and more rigid than Beat, so they use Beat engine and Today body to get ahead of other turbocharged kei-cars when racing against them.. From proud Beat owner in Japan. Thanks a lot Mr. Regular, you make me feel good about driving the Beat more than ever now!

Btw your friend's car looks like a "C" model, which would be a 92, although these didn't come with an LSD (the later models did). The body kit and HID bulbs are aftermarket. These blue ones are quite rare (with 500 made) if original. Some things from the video - they all came with MTREC (there was no carbed model) and you can delete the rev limiter (I'm not brave enough to do that) which otherwise limits it to an indicated 88mph. A factoid for anyone still reading - the arrow on the back is a 'fresh leaf' which denotes a new driver - old drivers have an old dying leaf!

This video is about 40% of why I own a Beat. And the statements made in this video, I can verify, are 100% true. It is absolute perfection and utter silliness.

Thanks for the KZbin video. I have been in Japan for 15 years. Currently my beats don't work. I want to restore it. If you don't move it for a while, the gasoline tank will rust and the pump will break! It is under repair. It's a very fun car, but it's a very, very slow car. I was in the car and lost to the car my grandmother was driving! ?? But driving is even more fun! Safe in a sense! In the future, I would like to change the computer and change the ignition system to make it easier to ride. Honda will start reselling parts. Japan is cheap so please look for it! Such a new car can no longer be sold!

To me, the original Kei car is the classic mini. And somehow, it is still "better" in some way. An early generation classic mini weights around 620 kgs so it is lighter. It has Moulton cones suspension, so you have variable spring rate if you want to take passengers. And yes you can fit 4 persons in there if you are courageous. The engine is one of the most modified engine of all time and you can make 90 bhp out of it with a very tiny budget (with the 1275 as a base). With a suitable FD you can cruise at 140-150 km/h and you can top around 175, which is enough to satisfy your strange addiction to danger.

7:50 - This means when you need to change the timing belt, you need a ton of torque to get the harmonic balancer off. Save yourself the trouble of starting with a cheater bar and go get a compressor and a impact gun that can do at least 500ft-lbs.
