These older Toyotas will last...and last...and last....especially with care, man. As a person who was born in the 90s, myself, I remember seeing plenty of these back then and you still find quite a few of these these days still on the road. These early Toyota trucks were and still are hella durable as vehicles. It's hard to beat up one of these, man....
@umad42
@umad42 3 жыл бұрын
Couple things on this truck 1. The Auto these come with are power parasites, they make a weak engine weaker, you won't be *happy* with the power through the manual box but it's better. 2. The center console "cup holder" is a storage cubby. Cup holders are built into the dash, you get 2 decent size but flimsy cup holders. 3. That engine is not the 3VZ-FE, that is the variant for the Camry, it has different heads and some other stuff, makes more power, this is the 3VZE. You are right about the power and it being a bit of a boat anchor motor though. 4. I totally agree on the seats. 90's-Early 2000's car seats are dope as fuck. Decent review, glad to see someone do a 2nd Gen.

My mother in law bought a 1992 4Runner and now my brother in law has it because he didn’t want to buy a new one when he could because he is raising 3 kids. And they have beat the hell out of that 4Runner and it is still going!!! My wife and I are empty nesters now and we are going to get a 4Runner because it will last us the rest of our lives and we can go see the grandkids in it with plenty of room. 2:20, I currently have a 94 22RE Auto 4Runner and it's a dog with 37's on however, it's easy enough to work on that if you ever need to do anything all you need is a socket set and 10 minutes of time. EGR issues? It's deleted. Vacuum leaks? 90% of the system is capped off. Fuel issues? Never. It'll go anywhere off-road, it's a blast to own a 2nd Gen. I'd never have bought a 2nd Gen if my only option was the 3.0

I have had an 88 pickup and a 95 4runner both with a 5 speed and 3vze. I did the head gaskets around 120k and got 275k miles out of both before selling them. The 4runner is definitely slow but that's why the engines last 350k+ These old scool Yotas are absolutely bullet proof. I would rather have a 4cyl actually because it was a 22re which are a million mile engine all day.

I daily drive my 1988 4 runner for the past 3 years. 3.0 5 speed. Just learn how to drive a slow car fast and think ahead a little when pulling out into traffic and you’ll be fine. I’ve beaten the absolute piss out of my runner off-road and would drive it 45 minutes to work the next morning and it just keeps going. Although full transparency I did buy a daily (2003 Mazda protege 5) also a 5 speed and good lord is it a much nicer car to drive. Ultimately if you have lots of off-roading, some mechanical inclination, tools and a garage you’ll set yourself up to not only have fun but pull girls. All of them love a Toyota ;)

That was a second gen 4runner though but I fiind those get shit gas mileage. wierldy enough I grew up with a 91 with no power windows for the doors but a power window in the rear. I mean thesee have really heavy hoods. Did the 92 still only have anti-lock breaks in the rear. Also the hood is so god damn heavy.

Well no wonder man, look at those huge tires you are running ! The larger tires you are using slows down the acceleration. I have the factory size tires on my 94' 3.0 v6 Automatic and it's quick enough to merge with cars on the highway ON ramps. Trust me, larger tires look awesome, but it takes a lot more horsepower to turn'em.
