This is how I remember Mitch, we shot Comedy on the Road together with John Byner..this same year...in Nashville, his character was developing, but not quite where he ended up...I remember his hair being longer than this...shortening the hair and added the sunglasses made a big difference. Great comedian. Great guy.

Hello Joby. You are right. There were glimpses of the character that was on the horizon. Glad to see the "I used to do drugs" joke. I saw him a few times back in those days then lost track of him for a few years. When I saw him again in about 1998 I could not believe how great he had become. He's one of the most original comedians of all time. Loved this video.

I love this dude, never got to see him b/c I never heard of him until after he died. You can see his discomfort and anxiety on stage. I know he must have felt bad a lot of the time, but to me that's a courageous individual. He has blessed my life with a lot of laughs, someone who never even heard of him until after his death. A pretty meaningful life if you leave something of yourself behind that people who never even met you enjoy.

Probably haven't hit that point in his life where The heroine was a huge Part of his life yet. I kind of get why he wears the glasses. Back when I used to smoke weed It just kept getting stronger and stronger quickly. And I would just get stuck on stupid mode. Till 1 day when I was at a ball game with my ex and her friends. And we smoke half a blood walking up to the stadium. I was like shit, why did I do that? I'm about to meet new people. Well, since it was a day game I happen to be wearing my sunglasses the whole time and it really helped me By not having to make direct Eye contact. And have them see my eyes just Be in a daze. At least for me It helped when I got too high and I wonder if it did the same for him

good stuff, you can hear all the noise and chatter when he started, a lot of people drunkenly and rudely talking, but his perfect quiet and reflective delivery did the trick, this is not easy to do, the jokes have to be good... but the noisy ones heard the laughter and had to shut up to hear him. by the end he had their complete attention.

Interesting to see that he had more of a 'story line' for his jokes early on, from the 2000s stuff you can see he started cutting down on the elaboration.
