250xs I swear are some of my favorite quads EVER. Way ahead of their time! 4 valve 4 stroke in the late 80s, they haul A**! They're styling is amazing, awesome carburetor w accelerator pump, and they're difficult to find but so beautiful. That 300ex is no slouch either, great pickups man! I'm happy for you, and jealous. Hahaha. I have non broken 250/300ex white rear fenders in my stash too.....😈

I just learned something again. So obvious but I completely missed it. The 88 Frame being red instead of silver like the 87. We both knew the plastics/fenders were different. Thank you for the shout out buddy. Love that. I wish I sent you some newer photos of the 87. I just put it in storage yesterday to create room in my friends garage. I know now the 88 is super rare. So many 87s. So I will keep my eyes out for a doner 88 for whole and clean rear fenders. I think yours is the only surviving 88 I've seen now that I am educated. I've seen 87s for sale everywhere. There was one last summer not far from you that was also SUPER clean with original tires all the way around. I have a screen shot of it. Not sure if it ever sold. One day we are going to trail ride for a few hours.

That 300ex 😍🫶👍 reminds me of the basically brand new 1996 I had from age 6 to 15! Mine had the yellow EX on the front fenders but was bone stock with all red plastics and seat cover with Fourtrax like the 93. Very nice nostalgic piece, I enjoyed watching this one for the EX but nice scores! The 250x is equally as awesome and I will probably end up getting either a 250x or a 300ex some day. Both machines were very popular for four stroke enthusiasts and I remember in the 90’s there were a ton of people that rode 250x’s/300ex’s if it wasn’t a 250R or Banshee until 1998. After that the 400ex started to become a pretty common machine, I got to ride a brand new 2 week old 1999 400ex when I was 8-9 years old for a weekend and after that I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one. That didn’t happen until I was 15 but that 99 400ex was really impressive to me at the time and I loved the power and suspension travel. The 250x/300ex always held that bomb proof reputation though and remained popular beyond the 400ex days to an extent and I still love them. Absolute wheelie monsters and light and nimble on the trails, never left me down and was perfect for me when I was young but the suspension reaches the limit pretty quickly and leaves more to be desired on the 300ex when I was a teenager (Heavier). For their time though the suspension was probably as good as it could get for an OEM setup on a 4 stroke machine with approximately the same cc engine/HP for trail/sport riding. The 400ex really was a huge leap forward for the 4 stroke sport quads thankfully which eventually lead to the 450cc class with several manufacturers building the various 450cc sport quads to compete against each other until they stopped making them close to a decade ago. (Unless you count the two sport quads you can still buy new from Yamaha…) nice job on the video!

Mine is original, as I bought this new in 1991.

Thank you sir! Yeah, those little tabs are weird. When we were at Binky's we were thinking maybe it was supposed to be for a chain guard (on the 350X) but then maybe the guard didn't make sense. But that theory goes out the window because all these other models wouldn't have it years and years later. I'm betting it was used during the manufacturing and processing of the swingarms.

@@tricycleguy2657 no kidding Man! I love cleaning carbs! Especially when the machine runs super terribly or not at all and then you spend an hour and actually thoroughly understand them and how they work, so satisfying to put them on and watch the motor purr like a kitten. My biggest complaint w certain carbs especially older smaller ones, where the piston valve constantly slams into the idle set screw is damage to the piston valve and it makes it seem like a lean idle. It took me years to figure out that lol. And a master mechanic had to tell me lol. So simple yet so complex.
