It’s cool man, trial and error. I appreciate this video and the hard work of trying to fix things yourself. It’s still a learning experience

That wire twisting should be great for connection readings

If anyone needs to know the right coolant temp sensor is right above the oil filter. Tell your parts store its the coolant sensor for the gauge cluster. It has one wire going to it that has a ending that just slides and pops on the sending unit. If anyone needs a picture let me know.

yeah I had the same issue as that on a 2002 Audi a4 warm wouldn't warm up in the time the car computer wanted it to and it would throw a check engine light and all it was was a stupid thermostat its clear a lot of Newer cars it seems like know the difference now a days

On my 92 3.0. It's close to the other. Has one wire and is just in front of the thermostat housing.

Good job on the video.I just did the same thing on my 94 explorer.What the book doesn't tell you,& most of the vids is to release the pressure on the system by opening the radiator cap(making sure the engine is cool),mine still had coolant bubbling out,probably a quart.Havent taken mine for a drive yet,did let it run for a bit,guage didn't move.Wondering where the other one is.I know one is the sensor & the other is the sender.

I also have a 95 xlt with the 3.0L. I’m curious is that a 3.0L or is that a 4.0L. I have a different intake manifold and throttle body.

Where is the gauge sensor you needed to replace located? I have the same issue in that my gauge won't move, but heater works fine. Also, did you make a video of the one you needed to replace?

We techs use thermo gun and check temp both sides of thermostat for fault confirm, if ok test resistance of sensors in conjunction with a good tell no lies/withhold no truth scan tool for ect fault codes and temp data. Prevents the time and parts wastage. Nice try anyway, but parts changing is like pot luck dinner that's all pot and no luck!

Dont feel bad I did the exact same thing, But I wanted to change that sensor too ,My temp gauge doesn't work at all it stays cold all the way to the left But Nobody has the Gauge sensor, I Tried Napa ,autoZone so far they dont have a listing for it

so I just changed the ETC sensor and now I don't have a temperature reading on my panel?? the arrow does not read if it cold,warm, or hot. upon inspections I found another sensor closer to the front of the vehicle. is that the ETC sender??
@wolverinemcstud1949 жыл бұрын
Sandra Gonzalez There are 2 sensors for the coolant. upon making this video I didn't know there were 2 and I learned somewhere along the way, anyhow, you could try changing both and possibly the thermostat. I'm no mechanic. My troubleshooting skills are limited but continue to get better with time :)

I replaced temp sensor, Temp switch sender , and thermostat twice switch and gauge was still dead , but after i flush the heating core that temp gauge started to work. ranger 2003 3.0 6 Cyl. Flush your heating core before start replacing parts

Seeing as this is my vehicle I found it pretty helpful to locate it and tools needed. Work on your vehicle and you realize it's just squeeze and detatch and screw in new part and re attach. Not rocket science

Dude if the problem was low temperature, you needed to change the thermostat
@wolverinemcstud19410 жыл бұрын
There are 2 coolant temperature sensors. One goes to the computer while the other goes to the dash board. what is referred to to as the "thermostat" is nothing more than a one way valve that looks kind of like a coin with a spring through the middle. Changing the "thermostat" would have done absolutely nothing as far as making the needle move on the dash. Although the truck still overheated after this, it was simple fix of replacing the coolant cap with a new one. Why? I have no clue, but it fixed the problem. I changed out the coolant sensor that goes to the dash and it works properly now :)
@Tony-Rinaldo10 жыл бұрын
Eric Stillman nah diego could be right. if your just showing low temperature it could be your thermostat. the thermostat stays closed until hitting the rated temp which is 180-190. i believe its job is holding that coolant in the engine til it warms and then it will OPEN and let the coolant cycle, allowing fresh cooler coolant to move through. if your thermostat is stuck open then coolant is just continually flowing through and not warming the engine.
@chevecrazy454ss9 жыл бұрын
Eric Stillman im dealing with the same crap as you did with this video but in reverse with sensors I replaced the one you didnt on this video wich fixed yours and it still does not show on dash any temp level now I will be replacing this one you covered on your video if it works after both sensors obviously work together so this will be Interesting I will give you a update
@danielmelvin45258 жыл бұрын
if your temp is low and needle never gets to middle your thermostat is stuck open, coolant is constantly flowing I to engine. overheating could be thermostat stuck closed.
@danielmelvin45258 жыл бұрын
I have the same truck and my temp gauge was not moving up into normal operating range. I got a check engine light. code was p0125. insufficient coolant temp. recommended fixes were thermostat, the sensor, flushing coolant or adding. I changed thermostat and the temp gauge now moves up into normal operating temperature. most common misdiagnosis according to the internet was the sensor. reason I'm here is cause the fan on the engine is always running and I'm trying to figure out what I can do to stop it from constantly running.
