Some teams would have to carry 2-3 extra bigs because by the end of the 3rd Shaq had everyone in foul trouble. And I was too young to really enjoy Hakeem in his prime, but Shaq literally was double like 80% of the time. If he wasn't, he would score. Simple as that. You could not stop him one on one. Hakeem all day VS Shaq
@anthonyscarpa61072 жыл бұрын
Shaq was better by the time he reached his prime.. Nobody was stopping him not even a Prime Wilt Chamberlain or Kareem was stopping Shaq during the 3 peat era 2000-2003

Calling Shaq a better center may be a dream but let's face it either player would make you a true contender.
@rogerjohnson8334 ай бұрын
Kobe, LeBron, Melo Ming, Howard, Amare etc.,went to the Dream, because he had superior inside skills to Shaq. O'Neal could shoot outside of 6 feet from the basket. Plus Hakeem is also a superior rim protector. GIVE ME HAKEEM EVERYDAY !

It's obvious that these Rockets rested guys to dominate in the playoffs. Rather if it wasn't intentional, as time passed it seems that's exactly what they did.

Imagine if shaq was able to shoot middys and make FT's pretty consistently....probably would've been a top 3 player of all time tbh

Hakeem had 30 blocks in a playoff series and he had 200 steals in a season

It is not about one on one, but team. Shaq had a better supporting cast on the 2000 Lakers that would make it easier for him to win. Also let's not forget Shaq but up numbers against Hakeem in the Finals, Hakeem just had "prettier moves" yet in Basketball it all counts as 2 points, unless you behind the arc

Bruh you put his 1994 stats but that's cool since everyone knows that Hakeem's 1994 season was better than his 1995 season. Dream's playoff performance in 1995 was epic though
@maanelid Жыл бұрын
Hakeem was the superior center. Shaq was given exceptional privileges by the refs and/or league office in terms of repeatedly getting away with offensive fouls. If offensive fouls were called against him in 2000 and onward the same way they were called against him in 95 and earlier, he would not have been as dominant a scorer in 2000 and onward.

Hakeem hands down....Shaq was super dominate but The Dream had it all, especially in 95'

Hakeem is better. Yes, Shaq had certain advantages on the offensive end in terms of how physically big and dominant he could be. But it didn't translate to that many points over Hakeem. And The Dream is the best defensive Big Man ever!

@Seymore Buddz 1996 ECF: vs RODMAN. *Shaquille O"Neal=27- 11- 4, FG-64%.* Unlike Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O"Neal did not choke or score 6-Points in an important game. 1996 WCSF: *Game1: Hakeem Olajuwon=6-Points, on 33%.*

@@allanhouston6759both got a sweep in 1996 if I remember so that whole point that you’re saying doesn’t mean anything if Shaq didn’t choke than why did he get swept?

Okay so it's pretty easy for me to explain this one. Let's first define "better". Because domination doesn't always mean "better" to me. Being 350 pounds isnt a basketball skill. I'm my opinion "better" is who is more skilled at basketball. Who can do more within the game and who possesses an arsenal of moves, along with the other various things that make up a player. Shaq was skilled at certain things, but Hakeem was FAR more skilled. I believe Hakeem was the better player. Shaq was more dominant.

Olajuwon should have won MVP even in 93 (Suns without Barkley won 55 games and with Chuck won 62). He had absolutely nobody. The man was a beast. Most skilled center I ever saw and I see NBA since 91. He beat Jabbar, MVP/DPOY Robinson, Ewing, Malone, Barkley, Shaq (everyone on their prime) to make 3 NBA Finals and took legendary Celtics to 6 games. Shaq beat past prime Sabonis, past prime Robinson and Rik Smiths. Just not the same. Olajuwon was better shooter, passer and defender than Shaq.
@Theterminato20133 жыл бұрын
Tough to play well vs the Spurs were the refs allowed Tim Duncan and David Robinson double team Shaq and get away with murder hacking him throughout the series. Meanwhile the refs swallowed their whistles every time Shaq breathed on Duncan or when he flopped against Shaq.
@scopemaverick87333 жыл бұрын
Hakeem, very easily. Wilt is the only Center better than Hakeem and an argument could still be made for The Dream.
