Remember this guy? Yep since I'm moving I had my scrap picked up and this was still in the shop collecting dust so I decided to do the tear down on it, I'm glad I did because I got a nice little keepsake out of it. BTW don't yell at me for using my impact lets face it, this engine is scrap!

You've come along way Eric and you've helped a lot of people along the way.I started watching your videos when I was 19,I'm now 25.When I first started watching your videos I knew nothing about cars, now I have completed several project vehicles, been paid to work on peoples cars and discovered I have a knack for fixing things.I Will be starting an apprenticeship as a Millwright within the next year, all because you inspired me and taught me.THANK YOU ERIC!

@EricWaterTruck I'm sure they did and the head may be toast too but I'll look into it if I ever have cause to use it, if it's junk I'll use it in a video at some point on how to replace valves.

@Gizmopflege I hear about situations like that all the time from people with 'cold air intakes' that draw air from behind the fender well that don't use the relief valve in the pipe. Liquids don't compress no matter how much force you apply. Thanks for the comment.

@Gruxxan In a situation like that the damage is really already done, just drive it till it dies and replace it is what I would recommend.

@kvcuijck Excellent point, the good thing about the top end of these engines is that the cam sits in a troth of oil that feeds most of the moving parts up there, sure it could still be damaged but really the only place this head would come in handy is to get a car running for cheep, I would not install this on a customer car without showing them this video first. Thanks for your comment.

@youtubasoarus I think it was just driven till it died as I don't think the owner put much thought into it. I think after the oil ran dry and things started to heat up they began to come apart, I think the connecting rod cap came apart first and once that happened and metal started flying the rest is history as they say. Thanks for the comment.

@scottaner500 The 'o' ring in the video. Don't use goop of any kind let the gasket do the work. Perhaps after you try to change a leaking gasket that has been coated with crap and you have to clean all that stuff off to install a new gasket to stop the leak you will see what I'm talking about. If there is a gasket let it do it's work, if there is no gasket use a high quality RTV, on Hondas I use Honda bond but you have to let it cure before you expose it to oil.

I had bearings in my still running 1.3 Opel Kadett that literally had holes in the middle and bits of bearing chips floating in the gap. The tabs on the ends of the bearings had broken off and the bearing was spinning in between the conrod and crank as well.
