I was shipped this same video before I took possesion of my 98 Navi back in 1998. I was first in the Baltimore area to have it . It got stares every where I went. It was so new the insurance company didn't know how to insure it at first!

Proud owner of a 1998 Oxford white Lincoln Navigator . Originally purchased in 2000. It's got 149,000 miles and is in mint shape. Never any major work done to the truck. The 5.4 was meant to push , tow and carry. Mine was used for around town shopping and long trips. You feel so safe ridding in it. I'm going to keep my 1998 Navigator forever. It holds so many great memories. This truck has never disappointed me or my family. It is a very easy truck to work on. Just reaching that right rear sparkplug and coil is tedious. I'm definitely going to eventually purchase a newer model, but I will never get rid of my great 98.

@Droster D You’re stupid, these older suvs look much better than the shitty crossovers that have taken over the suv market of today, and perform better too. New suvs are basically just minivans, round ugly v6 minivans... The older suvs were essentially still trucks, with actual 4 wheel drive and a v8 option not hardly given now. They are much hardier and reliable vehicles then the plastic garbage cans made now.

I have a 98 navigator, I keep it around for towing all my toys & use it for work alot. I rutinely tow 10,000 lbs with it. I tow a 14' dump trailer, a 16' trailer & Kubota L35 backhoe, my boat & a 7500 lb camper. Even at 13 years old, it's still comfy to drive & when I get her detailed she still looks good. Having been in the towing biz, I knew Fords are tough, that's why just about all light duty wreckers are Fords. That's why I went with the Navigator.
@cooliodiablo61174 жыл бұрын
Ford definitely didn’t skimp out on the engines they put into the Lincoln Navigators and Aviators. That was a big reason I got an ‘04 Aviator, it’s got even more hp than the Navigator of that year. And it used the same engine as the Mach 1 Mustang, Dohc v8 that puts out 302 hp. I’ve had on several occasions some idiot pull up beside me in another suv or truck, usually a v6 acting ballsy, and I mean I just blow them away in this thing. Lincoln honestly was just into making sleepers at the time I think. With a few mods I’m sure I could probably make my car stupid powerful for what it is.

mishafle Yep. Pretty well done though. Most lux brands are rebadged or gussied up common nameplates. You can hate on it, but as an owner I love it because most mechanical parts are easy to come by being the same as Expedition, F-150, etc. The 4R100 transmission is a beast as is the 5.4L V8, and those are normally found in the F-250s which are a pretty hardcore light duty truck.

Manny Diaz Me too Manny. I remember my dad had this exact Navigator from when I was 5 and my brother was born until 2004. So many memories in that truck. He recently got the latest Navigator and while he loves it too, he still missed his '98. So for his birthday last year, my mom, my aunt (my dad's sister) and I tracked it down and bought it back for him. His face just lit up when he saw it again after 10 years. And he appreciated that so much, he gave it to me as my car. Feels the exact same to me now as it did when I was 5. I'm never letting it go again.

@@MichaelD8393 My father bought it from my uncle, and it was used as the whole family hauler. nowdays we have a more recent navigator and this one started decaying a bit for being unused... now that i'm older, i'm working on repairing it so i can use it as my first car! The way to preserve these cars is just by using them. The more you use them, the more they last. Fords/Lincolns like to work hard, and don't like getting retired!
@MichaelD83934 жыл бұрын
@@ixcutamp8059 Good on ya, Eduardo. I feel any older car still deserves to be on the road, creating memories for its owner. A good example of that is my friend's brother's old Honda Prelude. My friend and I snuck out of high school one day in October of 2008 and his brother took us to the mall in the Prelude to buy CDs and have lunch in the food court. His brother had the Prelude until he & his wife had their first baby when he sold it to get a Honda Pilot. I got hold of the VIN number once and learned the Prelude went through two more owners, the second of which sold it for scrap after the alternator died. That was such a shame; a new alternator wasn't so hard to find and put on. All the memories of that October day flooded back to me and I vowed to myself I would have my own Prelude before I got married.

I just wish I could have seen the Cadillac executives' faces when they saw the first Navigators rolling out.. 😄 I wasn't able to buy a Navigator till the 2003 model which had over 100,000 miles on it when I traded it for a 2007 which I still have. I nicknamed my 2007 Navigator "007".. I just took the 2 off .😀 I'm still driving it and it has over 134,000 miles. It is my oasis. ❤

I believe those are for the two side window vents. In the rear window panes, there are electric motors that open and close them, so those are the switches you see. Models with a sunroof will have a third in the middle. Mine has the sunroof, so a third middle switch is there, but no rear A/C controls like the one showed in the video.

Sadly, she felt that it was just too big for just the two of us and we ended up replacing it in 2003 with a blue Mercedes C240 station wagon which she regretted as it was cramped and unreliable, she sold it after 7 years though, now every we see one of these Navigators on the road she feels instant regret for selling hers as most of them are in horrible condition with huge wheels and window tint and it is just too hard to find one for sale in good condition :(
