Nah, it would have been the main highlight then. Best to whistle whilst walking away and not looking at it... One thing I learned during my enlistment was don't bring up your own mistakes, even if for damage control. It either becomes suddenly interesting, and scrutinized, or it wasn't noticed and you told on yourself. Then everyone will take notice and tell you what/how you FUBAR-ed.

Daily dose of deadly airborne hairdryers. And hairdryers killing cows. Pretty sure that is a first. "Retreat. Hell" Harrier has to have one of the most confusing HUD of all aircraft. The dancing carats are just one of the indicators on the HUD that seem unnecessary. 55:50 I do love that the landing gear wheels on the wingtip spin in the wind. 58:35 That is a lot of carriers in one spot.

Learning to be proficient in the Harrier was an infuriating weekend... the upside? After learning that terrible plane, going back to the hornet and the jeff was a dream lol

Hey Cap, have you ever tried to use Command: Modern Operations (C:MO) to help build Reenactment missions in DCS? All the scenarios in C:MO can be run through Tacview.

You could have tried to see if you could accidentally make an F-117 Nighthawk blow it's stealth by dodging the cruise missile that was sent directly down its flight path. I can't remember what campaign opening it was or if it was officially declassified or not. It was during the opening of one of the non-war Conflicts that assault teams, Apaches, and stealth assets didn't invade and strike the vital infrastructure and denial systems...but it's the only time I heard any stealth pilot break silent protocols expressing his love of mothers and other grave disappointments... I wouldn't want to fly that faux-fighter, seems everybody tried to kill it if I'm not mistaking a few not-wars later another F-117 got a very close view of a blue HARM over the canopy, the command circus had forgotten to share with the strikers that it was a coalitions joint strike.

Cap you can't blame the crew on the carrier for not putting the F-14 out, they really were not trained on what to do. With GR it is either a good landing or needs to be swept up with a dust pan, really a servicable airframe that was just on fire they are not trained for that.

Damn why are like 50% of all DCS pilots land on carriers from straight behind it, it is so so wrong, why cant the figure that out ;D. Isnt it obvious with the painted landing strip and cable arangement etc? Nice mission guys.

Good video, but how is the harrier to learn? i am just getting to grips with the FA18 and would like it, but dont have time to spend weeks learning another plane!

The harrier is very easy to fly and the weapons systems are generally easier than the f18. There's a few less weapons, such as harpoon, walleye and your radar guided missiles. But it does have laser guided rockets, which are great for killing many low armoured targets that may also be moving. I absolutely love it for SEAD type missions because you've got optional jammer, 180 counter measures (6*30 of any mix you like) and it's very easy to fly below trees and between buildings to block enemy missiles. A very good optional canon, upto 4 fuel bags and of course the ability to hover around. It has the best training missions of any module (about 40 missions covering every detail, and the list grows). Owning every module, the f18 you have is certainly my top all round recommended, but the harrier is easily in my top 5 for combat missions. It's certainly easier than the a10c to learn, files at least 150 knots faster. It has air refueling and a really good RWR overlay on the HUD, as well as the only aircraft that now draws FLIR hotspots on the HUD (highlights potential ground units from far away) and even overlay flir directly onto the HUD for night operations. If you fly as a group, you can buddylase and in night vision mode you can shine lasers in a visible mode so everyone can see what you're pointing at. Highly recommended module, seen lots of love in the last 12 months from the devs

@@CameTo I had just tried it and was doing basic flight, stopping, hovering and slow maneuvering just using the keyboard. I had thought that the transition from forward flight to hovering would have been like balancing on a pin head (as RC Helicopters tend to be) but it's not so. The flight systems do all of the heavy lifting. I was doing things slowly though. I bet it cant swoop in flare, transition to a hover like some helicopters can.
